This paper reviewed research of the literary and artistic theories of Su'shi . Based on the summary of the previous study , we got ourselves' idea on this subject . Su'shi had his own art philosophy through out literature and painting and calligraphy : literature and art should be true , vivid , natural , principled . All arts should have these four features . First , Su'shi was a sincere man ,so he asked the poets and writers should have sincere emotion in their arts . Before they started writing , they should went the real situation to get true information . Literatue should reflect the reality . As to painting , there were some laws inside things , all drawers couldn't violate the true feature of things . Second , Su'shi said writers should refine their words to make their poems and articles to be more vivid . He also said paintings should not only be alike in appearance but also in spirit . Su'shi thought that calligraphy could convey the writer's disposition . Third , Su'shi said a good art should naturally go out like water , the best writer could describe whatever he saw , express whatever he thought about .That was so called 'cida' theory. We found out the culture background and philosophy base of this theory . Su'shi thought that the best artist should forget his brush or his pen when he was drawing or writing , just like God told him how to do . Finally , Su'shi thought all art should be abided by some principles. Each artist , poet , writer , calligrapher should work hard and exercise diligently , otherwise they couldn't succeed .
