Human beings have created glorious civilizations after them throughout history with the beginning of remote antiquity. In the course of human development, they have created abundant and distinguished material culture and spiritual culture with or without consciousness. We name them in modern society as human cultural heritage-tangible cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage.Research regions - Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regions accounting for one sixth of the total area of PRC. Located in the north-west part of China and the middle of Eurasia, it is the further place from sea and the confluence of eastern and western cultures. This region is geographically featured by three mountains (Altay Mount, Tianshan Mount, Kunlun Mount) and two basins (Junggar Basin, Tarim Basin) between them. Under this geographical condition, the region is classified into two types according to the theory of economic and cultural types in Ethnology: Oasis Tillage type represented by Uygur nationality, and Basin Prairie Nomadic type represented by Hazak nationality. These two types contribute to the classification of the cultural heritage in Xinjiang. The famous economic and cultural corridor across Eurasia-the Silk Road -mainly lies in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.Time span-the past, present and future of the people settled inXinjiang, The region of Xinjiang has always been the territory of China since ancient times, where people from all directions meet to communicate and supply each other's needs. Xinjiang is described as a melting pot of various nationalities. As society develops and evolves in politics, economy, culture, nationalities and religions, peoples here have created distinguished culture of the West Regions. It is an integral part of plural Chinese culture as well as a shining chapter in world civilization. Research subjects-the cultural heritage preserved and handed down from ancient times in Xinjiang. Cultural heritage is the innovation of ancestors and grants from history, with no exception of cultural heritage in Xinjiang. Cultural heritage in Xinjiang is particularly valuable on the ground that it is the mingling of great civilizations. We are responsible for preserving and handing down the intact cultural heritage.Research methodology - applying related theories from Ethnology ,cultural anthropology and economics to analyze its value and to approach protection significance and the feasibility of its exploitation. In the light of the reasonable protection methods and exploitation ways from UNESCO as well as experiences from developed countries, the dissertation provides suggestions for the cultural heritage cause in Xinjiang.Train of thought: The dissertation takes the classification of tangible cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage for the cultural heritagein Xinjiang. First, it analyzes its value and significance in the aspects of politics, economy, culture, history, society, arts and science. Second, it analyzes the protection methods classified in term of function, which includes legislation protection, technological protection, project protection, protection of the nation and so on. At the end it provides some workable suggestionsChapter one is an introduction, which puts forward the general envisage including origin, principles, research angle, theories and methodology, frame and so on. chapter two is an brief introduction to the geography features and history of Xinjiang as well as a brief statement to the classification of Xinjiang cultural heritage. Chapter three analyzes the prime value of the tangible cultural heritage of Xinjiang. Chapter four is to delve into the protection ways, to describe the present situation of protection and to make a plan for future. Chapter five states a feasible exploitation ways to Xinjiang tangible cultural heritage and the relationship between exploitation and protection.
