Nominal group is a functional category in Chinese phrases. On the basis of the achievements made by other researchers, this article makes a comparative study of Chinese and Russian nominal group. The valence of head noun has an effect on the construction of center-determined phrases. The representation forms of the valence components of monovalent nouns and divalent nouns in phrases and sentences are not identical in Chinese and Russian. The grammatical restrains of the construction of a nominal group are different in Chinese and Russian. Although the lexical factor has different effects on the construction of a nominal group in the two languages, keeping rhetoric and register feature accord is the same basic principle shared by Chinese and Russian in the nominal group construction.Because of lack of quantifier category in Russian, it's a general phenomenon that the form of a numeral plus a noun is different between Chinese and Russian. Although such center-determined phrase as a noun modified by a verb is a common linguistic phenomenon shared by Chinese and Russian, there is no correspondence between them. The fundamental reason that makes the multiform appositive phrase in Chinese correspond with only one expression in Russian is the different address style of the two nations. The distinction between prototype and marginal pragmatic places occurring when Chinese nominal groups serve as sentence components isn't applicable in Russian. This article also makes an analysis and study of Chinese and Russian nominal groups in such aspect as the capacity of making sentences and acting as a non-marked theme or a non-marked rheme in a sentence.
