Self-regulation is one of the most important domains in child development. To understand the development traits and relevant factors of self-regulation is important in fostering children self-regulatory competence, and improve the behavior development and social adaptation. Herein I propose the following self-regulation models and hypothesis for this research. They are the model of neuro-psychology development of self-regulation, the model of physio-psycho-social environmental influential factors of self-regulation, the comprehensive assessment of self-regulation, self-regulation is influenced by temperament, and self-regulation has impact on behavioral development. The whole research has the following there parts. The first part: To assess 114 eighteen months to thirty-six months toddlers and 443 three years old to six years old children with questionnaires of child self-regulation scale and relevant checklists. 1.The child self-regulatory competence scale include the effortful control concept of Rothbart and self-regulatory development. The attentional focusing and inhibitory control in Rothbart's effortful control assessed by the Early Childhood Behavior Questionnaire (ECBQ) and the Children's Behavior Questionnaire (CBQ) are adopted in this research. The self-regulation development includes the following five domains, social behavior, prosocial behavior, emotional behavior regulation, cognitive self-regulation and motivation for self-regulation. The score of each factor and the sum score are analyzed. 2. The children's life environmental checklist.3.The behavioral problems assessments include the impulsivity of ECBQ and CBQ and Achenbach child behavioral checklist for ages 2-5 (CBCL, ages 2-5). 4. The assessment of child temperament is by the Carey's toddlers and children behavioral questionnaire (Chinese version). The results showed that: 1.The revised self-regulation competence scale for 18-to 36-month-olds children and 3-to 6-year-olds children have high internal consistence reliability. They are valuable in assessment of children self-regulation. 2. The development tend of self-regulation competence is increasing with age. But the developmental speeds are different for the different factors at different age period. Girls'averge self-regulation competence was higher than boys in some domains. 3. It has been made clearer for the milestones of emerging time and frequency for some concrete items of self-regulation ability or strategies. 4. The influential factors of self-regulation presented in this study were (1) Parental educational degrees, the...
