China is usually called as the etiquette nation. Etiquette culture is an important component part of Confucianism and Chinese traditional culture. It is closely related with Chinese society development and people's lives, so it has the evident features of the times. During 1980s, the research of etiquette culture entered in a vital term with a new round of culture fever and Confucianism fever rising. Especially since 1990s, humane scholars in different domains have made use of their own academic backgrounds and have studied etiquette culture respectively from the angles of history, philosophy, sociology, linguistics etc. A large numbers of achievements with great value have been produced. Judged by their contents, most of the achievements are got from a domain or are about concrete problems, and the studies from a comprehensive angle of multiple subjects are weak. Especially the studies for the humane spirit which etiquette culture contains are almost blank. So this article will try to study emphatically the humane spirit and the value of etiquette culture in a comprehensive way of multiple subjects.This article will mainly study etiquette culture from the following several aspects.The first aspect is the origin and the position of etiquette. This article considers that the origin of etiquette should be the root which etiquette developed from instead of the place where etiquette began earliest. From the analysis that etiquette includes rite and rightful etiquette, this article gets the conclusion that etiquette origins from the moderate and suitable standardization of people's rationality to their emotion and desire. This article puts forward the view that etiquette is the main part of Chinese traditional culture on the basis of that etiquette is the base and the essential feature of Chinese traditional culture.The second aspect is the evolution and the essence of etiquette. This article draws the evolutional laws of etiquette along the evolutional path of etiquette. It regards that the evolutional procedure of etiquette should observe the religious grade principle, the normal human feelings' principle, the rational principle, the utilitarian principle and the moderate principle. Meanwhile, this article approaches the essence of etiquette. Differing the phenomena that the essence of etiquette is confused with its definition, function and features in most of other research, this article differentiates strictly them and points out that the essence of etiquette displays in four aspects, justice, truth, respect and honesty.The third aspect is the humane spirit of etiquette culture. This article regards the existence of humane culture as the fundament of the humane spirit of Chinese etiquette culture. The humane spirit civilizes the world emphatically by grasping appropriately the relations between human and its own, human and nature, human and society. Meanwhile, this article analyses the relation between etiquette science and humanity. The article considers that etiquette science is essentially a science about human. Its basic feature is valuing the actual problems of humans and human lives.
