Towards The Historical Poetics

Based on the experience of the literary practices, grounded on the history and pondered on the "present", the project of the Historical Poetics is an open literary studying system, which was proposed by А. Н. ВЕСЕЛОВСКНН (1838-1906), a Russian literary theorist. Different from А. Н. ВЕСЕЛОВСКНН whose attention is on the novel and from Bakhtin whose attention is on the poetry, Hayden White's historical poetics is mainly on the history (historical works, historical narrative, historical discourse). In researching on the process of historical poetics (origin, development and diversion), this paper draws the outline of the whole developing process of it, and discusses the theoretic characteristics and the studying emphases of each evolutional phase of it. Hence, we can historically orientates it as well as theoretically generalize it.The exordium mainly probes into the research status on Hayden White's historical poetics in the field of history, literary and narration .Nailing down the emphases of the literary value , this Paper stresses on the two important reasons that probe into White's historical poetics from the literary point of view. The first reason is that the literary criticism is fundamentally important, and the second one is that the effects of White's historical poetics in literary critical field is far more greater than it is in the historical and narrative field.The first chapter newly defines the connotations and denotations of the old discipline: "the poetics". After investigating the poetics diachronically (finds out three poetics: the poetics of technique, of literature, and of art) and synchronically (finds out three poetics: the poetics of handicraft, of over-interpretation, of ontological experience of the art), this Paper suggests that it is the viewpoint of Experience Ontology is the right direction of contemporary projects of the Poetics. Thereby, studying on Hayden White's historical poetics has the present consciousness of Solicitude of reflecting on the contemporary poetics, and provides a kind of reference for future poetics. In addition, the last part of this chapter also points out that "figure" is the core of White's historical poetics.The second chapter argues that the difference between the event and the story, the event and the fact is the groundwork of White's historical poetics. Not only does the Paper state that the difference between the event and the story embodies the emplotment and narrativity of the story that possesses, but also the differences between them indicates the two epistemology (the Reactivite Epistemology and Reflectivite Epistemology) and the two Idea of Truth (Positivism and Pragmatism). While the difference between the event and the fact also implies the two Existences: the Entity and the Factuality. The dissertation not only points out that the Factuality Existence is the combination of "Ens" and "Naught", but also proves that the Factuality Existence profoundly impacts our lives by two modalities (knowledge and wisdom). At the same time, the dissertation suggest that the Factuality Existence consists of the two modalities in deep and surface layers, namely, the Concept and the Notion.
