This dissertation is an academic research into against-corruption novels from the angle of culturology. It is the first attempt in our country to carry out a systematic study of the eultural implication contained in against-corruption novels in the light of jurisprudence, culturology, and literature. The interpretation of literary phenomena made in this dissertation might advance the frontier of literature study, and yet, it is academically tentative due to the great distance between the way of thinking in jurisprudence and the imagination of literature, and also due to limitation of the author's knowledge. The main points are below:1. It is theoretically possible and academically significant to make a jurisprudent and literary study of the texts of against-corruption novels. From the angle of anthropology, law is a fraction of culture, possessing local and national characteristics, assuming a certain function of culture, and providing order and significance successively for mankind in the process of its own evolution. The narration of a legal story surely entails contents of legal belief, imagination, and feelings, therefore, during the cultural research, literature and law science are isomorphic in the structure and function of the cultural system, and it is because of this that culture is the media of the research of literature and law science. The cross-disciplinary study of against-corruption novels, on the reverse, offers a new approach to make an objective and comprehensive judgment of value of culture, literary and artistic creation, etc.2. Staring with the interrelation of culture, the development of literature, and the flourishing times of against-corruption novels, the dissertation has probed the cultural origin of against-corruption novel. It is thought that the quick sale and flourish of against-corruption novels is brought in by the following factors: readers' recognition of realistic writings full of social responsibility, the coincidence of the contents of against-corruption novels and readers' expectation of reading, etc.3. After an analyze of instructive and therapeutic functions of literature in the light of culturology, this dissertation has further dissected the assumption of social and cultural functions of against-corruption novels and also this assumption's representation of and its influence on literary creation.4. In the light of the research of legal culture, this dissertation has dissected the image of'incorrupt officials, and the narrative model of the dichotomy of incomiption and corruption and has made a discovery that in the macro narration of against-corruption novels there exist three features of legal culture: lack of legal belief, tradition of man-rule, and legal instrumentalism. The features are composed of the deep cultural entailment of against-corruption novels, more or less control novelists' thematic representation, characterization, and plot designing, and what's more, show the lack of retrospection to modern legal culture and that of retrospection to culture and spirit of criticism.5. After an analysis of the making of law-rule culture and legal belief in the light of law science and literature, this dissertation has made a cultural interpretation of the distortion of human nature owing to power worshipping, and also made an active exploration of and retrospection to the legal culture contained in the novels' depiction of officialism and power and human alienation. Then, an analysis has also been made of limitation of novelists' retrospection to against-corruption.
