Research On The Conservational Group's Thought Of Qing Government During The Period Of Yihetuan Movement

The conservational group of the Qing government during the period of the Yihetuan movement were the people who wielded power by suppressing the group of reformation, defended the traditional political system stubbornly, excluded the influence outward of the county blindly, and vented their spite upon the western imperial governments by the Yihetuan movement. They acted from the 1898 coup d'etat to the accident in 1900 when the alliance of eight western counties invaded Chinese. They wanted to reserve the traditional system including the politics and thought and culture, keeping the traditional social order. They were the royal blood ZaiYi, ZaiLian, ZaiLan ,ZaiXun, the official XuTong, GangYi, ChongQi,ZhaoShuqiao, QiXiu, YingNian, LiBingheng, YuXian, DongFuxiang and so on.Strictly speaking, they were not completely conservational group, because their thought had changed comparing those conservational group in the early days of Yangwu movement. They had received the action to learn to west counties on the base of reserving the traditional feudal institution and political order, in order to develop their country. They used to act upon the treaties between China and the invasion to protect the preachers and emissaries, which would create a kind of peace environment for the county's developing. They protected the county's advantage consciously, preventing it to being robed by the invasion. Their ideas were on the same level of the early Yangwu group.In spite of their thought failed to apply the social demand which were conservative and exclusive, there were some suitable ideals in them, for example, they depent the country's advantage, they showed their concern to the people, they brought up some reasonable respects about the internal affairs, they expected they could make the country stronger. All those displayed their love to the country.Their traditional thought resulted from many cause such as the social political and economic foundation, the fountainhead of history culture,their personal career and the enmity to the western invading county. As a political and culture group, the conservational group exited for some history meaning. Although they obstructed the social development, they couldn't prevent its progress. And just because of them, the advance ideas could be deepened and more mature. and then, push the whole society developing.
