The Research On Chinese Allusion Expressions

Chinese allusion culture is extraordinary splendid,and the numerous allusion expressions enriched the whole Chinese language system.However,in the previous various researches are more focused on allusion itself than allusion expressions and more from the culture view than linguistic view.Therefore,the format procedure, structure form,semantic composing and pragmatic characteristic of the allusion expressions are insufficiently studied.To fully and accurately unscramble allusion expressions,this thesis will thoroughly focus on the study of the dynamic development and static existence of Chinese allusion expressions from the viewpoint of glossarilization,making use of linguistic theory and knowledge.With language material for this thesis sourced from Chinese Language Great Dictionary and reference to Chinese Allusion Great Dictionary,this thesis will complement the research fruit on allusion expressions of previous scholars and strive to form a much more extensive allusion expressions corpus to cover every aspects possible.The writing clue of this thesis is from investigation object introduction to investigation object research(including format analysis,structure analysis,semantic meaning analysis and pragmatic analysis).The main theory on this thesis is the issue of lexicalization of allusion expressions. We will fully study allusion expressions' format,structure,semantic meaning and pragmatics through the comparison of diachronic and synchronic,as well as the comparison of allusion expressions and ordinary expressions in this thesis which is made up of seven chapters as following:The first chapter is introduction where the investigation object is introduced.This chapter includes two parts,the first of which is mainly introduced of relevant terms and concepts and comparison of these terms are made here. These terms include allusion,allusion,expressions,allusion using and the related allusion formation and so on.Meanwhile,simple comparisons are made between allusion expressions and idioms,locutions and other kinds of fixed phrases,making the investigation object more accurate and clear.And the second part of this chapter is to review the research history on this thesis' task,summarizing the current status of the research;which makes this thesis with good value location and room to be further studied.Then,writing clue is developed and writing prospect is made through investigation point of view and investigation method.The second chapter is the investigation on allusion sources and the great works on allusion sources.Although allusion sources are not allusion expressions themselves,only a related part of the allusion expressions,they are closely related to allusion expressions.One can not research allusion expressions without of allusion sources research.Allusion expressions will be like rivers without water sources or trees without roots;and the relevant investigations can not be carried out.This makes it necessary for this thesis to do allusion sources research.After explaining the necessity of allusion sources research, we will investigate the allusion sources in detail.Allusion sources type can be divided into two kinds depended upon the numbers of allusion sources.If there is only one allusion source,it is called single allusion source;if there are more than one allusion sources,it is called multi-allusion sources.Single allusion source is simple but multi-allusion sources are more complex,which include five types:synonymy homomorphism multi-allusion sources,dissynonymy homomorphism multi-allusion sources,and so on.From the point of view of the quantities of the allusion sources related words,the allusion sources can be divided into two kinds,say,one allusion source with one word,one allusion source with several words which includes several words with the same meaning and several words with different meaning.Regarding the great works on the allusion sources,we investigated all allusion expressions originated from different great works,times and frequency,and found that there are four principles on the relationship between great works on allusion sources and quantities of allusion expressions.That is,the quantities of allusion expressions become more and more with the times goes;the quantities of allusion expressions and types of literatures are in inverse ratio;although the quantities of literatures were increased abruptly in dynasty Weijin,Tang,and Song,it still does not breach the principles of the allusion expressions appearance;the allusion expressions from the same allusion sources are recorded in many literatures.In this thesis,subject and object bases to comprise allusion sources literature are simply analyzed respectively.Chapter three is the research on format of the allusion expressions.From this chapter on,we will probe into the investigation on noumenon of allusion expressions.We will research the allusion expressions'glossarising from the format of allusion expressions.First of all,we divide allusion expressions into several types according to syllable quantities,namely,disyllables,trisyllables,quadrisyllables,pentasyllables and so on, making it more clear on format of allusion expressions.Secondly,we will probe into how allusion expressions develop.An expression develops from diction and story to an allusion expression.We also believe that the development of allusion expressions is the procedure of glossarising,which is based on recent focus on glossarising research among the academic field.And we will also probe into the reason of gloosarising,including allusion characteristic,pragmatic, human cognitive and language system adjustment,etc.Lastly,we will explain the process of allusion expressions' glossarising from the point of view of glossarising characteristic,glossarising process and glossarising approach.We will discuss glossarising characteristic in two parts,namely,the distribution of allusion expressions' glossarising to Chinese expression system;the difference between allusion expression' glossarsing and normal expressions' glossarising;among which the later can show the characteristic more clear.The process of allusion expression includes the cognitive process for information pick-up, information process and information transfer.Detailed glossarising approach is analyzed from two points of view:first from motivation point,it can be divided into figurative idiom,loan idiom,contradict idiom,etc.second from research technique,it can be divided into intercept,pick-up,and alteration,and there are also sub-divisions under each technique.Chapter four is structure investigation on allusion expressions.This part involves allusion expressions inner structure and deconstruction the inner structure.This chapter includes two parts:first summarized the structure characteristic of allusion expressions,which campared to the form and meaning of allusion expressions from macroangle.It includs four aspects:(1) subordinative of status(2)specificness of structure(3)diversifility of structure style(4)contactness of allusion structure and source.Part two is concret analysis.Thanks to the specific form of allusion expressions,we divides allusion expressions into word style phrase style and sentence style,and thenChapter Five focuses on semantic research of allusion expressions.This chapter goes on as the following three aspects.First of all,it is generalization about semantic characteristics of allusion expressions from macroview,which includs: (1)dominant of meaning ststus(2)derivation of meaning(3)occasionality and subjective of meaning production(4)semantic stability(5)semanticdominance and recessiveness. (6)semantic sociality(7)semantic nimbility.Secondly,so much analysis is done to meaning organization,namely the data from allusion source based on inferring from previous research fruits,which includs ten pattens of getting data about people things and places and so on.Thirdly,many researches are done to semantic development in different period during the glossarization of allusion expression from diachronic vtew.Meaning production in glossirization process includs one meaning from one source,many meanings from one source and one meaning from many sources.After glossirization semantic change includs meaning expanding,meaning transferring and meaning shrinking.Chapter Six focuses on the pragmatic research of allusion expressions.This chapter probes so much into the pragmatic effectiveness and characterietics of allusion expressions.Pragmatic effectiveness is divided into two parts——function to whole Chinese language systemand concret progmatic efffect.Embodiness of the function to whole Chinese language system are(1)making Chinese vocabulary system rich(2)making so much important function to Chinese inheritant and development. (3)allusion expressions are symbols which connect language and images.Concret progmatic effect of allusion expressions are mainly embodies on its rhetoric useness,such as strong article ezpressionand make languane more reserved and tactful,etcPragmatic characteristics of allusion expressions include:(1)there is specific request in using of allusion expressions.(2)using of allusion expressions is based on the application yto both or all pf human being's cognitive mind.(3)using of allusion expressions needs some principles.(4)there is so much objective view in using allusion expression.(5)so much gramar limit diffferent from other words in concret using of allusion expressions.(6)there is different level of familarity in using of allusion experssions.Chapter seven is a generalization of this thesis with discussion of how to deal with the allusion expressions.This chapter point out,we should deal with allusion expressions even its historic deep meaning and its vividness and colorfulness with Marxism Scientific Outlook on Development,also carry forward Chinese allusionary culture and make good use of this linguistic group.This thesis tries to interpret sistematicly allusion expressions which is not a new language phenomenon with revelant theories on linguistics ang modern Chinese even some new academic pointview and strives to make it scientific and standard,which including inheritant and break through.Limited of time and energy,this thesis is looking forward being pointed out mistakes from other experts.
