The problem of generation relationships is a key topic related to human's social relationships and development of life. As to its character of sociality, this problem is mostly and widely concerned by researchers of anthropology and sociology. But as to the author's opinion, observing this problem through a historical angle of view will help us learn more deeply about it and form new ideas on solving problems brought by it. Thinking of this, based on the theories of generation relationships of anthropology and sociology, the author takes the generation relationships of modern China especially among the May Fourth intellectuals as topic to research. With newspapers, periodicals, letters and writings of intellectuals as materials, the author analyzes their expression of thought about the relationship and confliction between generations. Finally, the author works out the conclusion that the changing of knowledge is the key point which leads to changing of generation relationship and gives his opinions to the problem of today's Chinese generation relationship.
