The statement "The change in situation that had never occurred in a millennium " accurately generalizes the essence of the political transformation in late Qing dynasty. Specially after Geng Zi Emergency, the Political pattern that had been formed between government and the populace, Man race and Han race, Chinese and foreigners, ancient and modern Fundamentally destroyed the pride and illusion of "Qing Dynasty Empire" in the government and the public, which had been generated by historical and cultural sediments. The pattern had decisively implanted the formative elements of the new experience structure such as nationality, state, citizenship and society which are linked with each other under mutual influence. The transformation from dynasty-state to nation-state had became the theme of politics in late Qing Dynasty during which the culture anxiety was the real agent of nation-state imagination in late Qing dynasty. The three leading political powers in late Qing Dynasty all fought for the political say in the disguise of searching for the effective prescription to "save the nation": The Qing government implemented the new deal reform to help itself; The goal of the reformists was to advance the constitutional monarchy of enlightened autocratic monarchy"; the revolutionary group accelerated the establishment of Republic by means of violent revolution. The political party ethics , the entangling division of state and society, as well as the entwining of the political power and individual rights covered by modem politics were fully expressed by "instantaneity" in the new novels in late Qing Dynasty. In this literary genre with the politicization as the core the esthetic interest of discussion and imagination had released to the greatest degree the theme of "save the nation" and the spreading of the nationalism .So, the research on the new novels in late Qing Dynasty takes the political and social theories as its theoretical basis, "the transition" in late Qing Dynasty was directing towards the gene constitution in the development of Chinese modernity in the future, in the meanwhile, it also referred to the boundary of the literary imagination in this paper. This paper takes mutual justification of literature and history as a method, "nation-saving theory" as the hermeneutics topic territory and "sickness" and "medicine" as the writing clue. In the historical textuality , literary text description, the various texts to compare in the type involvement, as well as the intertextuality theory as the hermeneutics basis we try to return to "the historical situation" in order to elaborate on the "nation-saving" imagination in the new novels of late Qing Dynasty, so that personal understanding and comments can be reached on the interaction between time and literature. This paper intends to break through the limit of the ideology and sort out the relations between literature and politics in the textuality of historical, complicated reduction. The "sickness" in this paper refers to the crisis consciousness which individuals and the political community (state) demonstrate. The scholar politics discourse which takes "state" as the narrative centre ,so the classification research of its political idea thus appears extremely essential. This paper is meant to take the new novels created from 1902 to 1911 as the analysis object and discusses the political, cultural psychology regarding the construction of "the modern nation-state" .This paper insists that the new novels transcends the frame of the literary history and joins in the construction of the modern nation-state its realization of the political publicity and cultural enlightenment. The new novel writing in late Qing Dynasty was accompanied by the intelligentsia's imagination of nation-state. Without the analysis of the relationship between literature and the politics, we can not understand the rapid promotion of new novels in late Qing Dynasty, as well as the swift turning-point at the beginning of the Republic of China. New novels in late Qing Dynasty was not only the part of the nation-state construction, but also reflected the complex and difficulties of nation-state construction. Its reality-reforming political impulse and the literature imagination about new China was the two sides of the coin. The progressive idea was its tone. The new novels in late Qing Dynasty rose and fell so rapidly that it indicated that "the new novels" carried the heavy load it could bear. Based on the close reading of the texts, the theoretical interpretations of the relevant disciplines, for instance, the origin analysis of Shanghai public space on the sociological level, this paper hopes to explain the reasons of novel periodical prosperity, as well as the appearance of the intelligentsia with the characteristics of modernity. This paper insists on the idea of "the Intentionality Object of Literary Texts" and believes that the "nation-saving" imagination in new novels of Qing Dynasty suggests the hidden mentality of Empire. The idea of Tian Xia hadn't disappeared with the collapse of the tribute-paying system. The modern echo of the political idea "Union", especially, the historical viewpoint with the emperor as the core had been revived in the literary imagination of One World.Research on the new novels in late Qing Dynasty has opened up many evocative issues because of its complexity of topics, for instance, the issue of " the tragedy of the enlighteners". Owing to the narrowness of knowledge structure , the problems of scholars discourse, near-sightedness in horizons, their moving patriotic passion became naive cliche of cultural defence plan, blind with the neglect of common sense, or even covers the side of dictatorship , boasting he is the best doctor to "save the nation".The question consciousness reflected in the new novels in late Qing Dynasty had accumulated and turned out to be a hint for the development of Chinese modernity. The themes of Chinese modern and contemporary literature were revealed at that time.
