Zhao Zhiqian, one of the most important arti sts i n the art hi story of I ate Qi ng dynasty, both has tremendous achievements and influence on calligraphy,ink painting and sigillography.Both of Zhao's seal engraving achievements and the formation of thought and style are closely related to his world philosophy of advocating practical,epigraphy research and learning with the many teachers and friends around.Around in three-year-old,he made friends with Hu Shu,Wei Xizeng,Shen Shuyong,etc who had the same interesting on epigraphy and sigillography.The experience and knowledge on epigraphy made him turnd to the monument style on calligraphy,emphasized adding epigraphy into painting on drawing,began to form the idea which is"seek sigillography out of the seal".However,unfortunately,the unique insiht and personal aspect on academic and art,together with aloof personality without flexible made him completely failed in the imperial examination room.After he became an official by money, under the stress of the busy official business and economy,his original momentum of rapid development on academic and art had was held up.Zhao's seal engraving thoughts is closely related to his idea on calligraphy,painting and poetry. It is summarized as the following four aspects:first, with realizing the disease which is produced during the evolution of Zhe School and the great value of Deng Shiru's seal engraving which adding calligraphy into sigillography, he combines the advantages of Zhe School and Wan School. Second, under the context of epigraphy research, he applicates the integration of the writing among Zhong Ding,Qin Measurement,Rescript Copperplate, Inscriptions,Bronze Mirror Epigraph,Statue, Coin,Writing Brush Washer,Eaves Tile,Porcelain Tile, etc on stamp and expands the example object that he drived from,so that the content of seal engravin becomes more abundant,but also it carves out the fire-new way of the continuing development of the "seek sigillography out of the seal" on seal engraving. Third, Zhao deals with the form relations of stamp by the opinion "can passes horse in sparse, can't permeate wind in thick" from Deng Shiru,which has been called the "peerless curse",meanwhile, this treatment sets a precedent on seal history in his creation maturity. Fourth, the characteri sti c of" curiosity" makes hi m face the all avail able resources i n the words form equally, except for be good at derive the useful elements from the materials regarded as vulgar and acquire new awareness and creation to art tradition.This text, combining my creative experience on calligraphy,painting and sigillography, through analyzing intensively the style and form on seal handicraft,sword handicraft,and stamp handicraft from Zhao's existing seal works and combining his art theory, opens up specifically the learning succession and creative transformation on Zhao's seal, for example,how does he acquire from the previous seal as example, how use transformationally the resources of the various Inscriptions and re-organized them, style informal, technique unlimited, creation unconventional, break fresh ground,and then I will creat my own art world. Among the seals through the ages, Zhao can be said being the one who uses the most word resources, creates most diversely, possesses the most complex style, so that these diversity and complexity become the uniqueness of Zhao Zhiqian.All the seals after Zhao Zhiqian who are deeoly influenced by his art thread always make the further deeply development along the creative types and direction that Zhao has tried,and then succeed. It can be said that Zhao is the "general enlightenment master" since the I ate peri od of Qi ng dynasty...
