Hsu, Tsang-Houet (1929-2001) is one of the main characters who promote modern music creation in the 1960s in Taiwan. His achievement is divided into two aspects composing and cultural-anthropology. In cultural-anthropology, he and Shi, Wei-Liang (1925-1977) collected folk songs repeatedly, including the largest "folk collection" movement in 1967 in Taiwan's history. In composing music, which promoted the Chinese music creation with sense of the times, namely, adopt modern music creation of Chinese style feature rich vocabulary, to carry out specific practice, mainly embodied in the pitch aspect characteristic and the elements of the tones of reciting characteristics capture, From the aspects of national music rhythm and tempo characteristic model by Messiaen rhythm infiltration, Structure features embodied in the fold played more and the use of "five" control.
