The Research on private nonprofit organizations has been increasingly unfolding since 1980. Researches on the relationships between private nonprofit organizations and government have become a new academic frontier in the discipline of the third sector. This dissertation attempts to demonstrate that the development and practice of the relationships between private nonprofit organizations and government is based upon the structural transformation of public sphere and deliberative politik, furthermore, to deliberates on the necessity of the practice of the relationships from the view point of new-type social structure and democratic constitutionalism, then to study and explain the connotation during the course of the practice of the relationships between private nonprofit organizations and government. After clarifying and explaining some principal theories and conceptions concerning the research on private nonprofit organizations and its relationship with government, the dissertation make a hard research into the relationships between America's private nonprofit organizations and government in the field of historical transformation, institutions and regulations, and its future development.The dissertation probes into the relationships between private nonprofit organizations and government by introducing the perspective of multi-disciplines. To clarify the terminological tangle, the perspective from the economics of property right has been adopted to explain the fundamental characteristics of private nonprofit organizations. Basing upon the human beings' sociality and liberty, the praxis of the birth and existence of private nonprofit organizations has been specified.
