Beginning with the concept and theories of sea power, this paper explored the initial understanding of sea power by the Communist Party of China (CPC) and its great achievements during the Resistance War Against Japan and the Liberation War in fighting against Japanese and American aggressive behaviors on the Chinese sea territories and their encroachment of Chinese sea power, in regaining the lost sea power in modern China around the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and in maintaining and consolidating national sea power after the establishment of the PRC, put forward some constructive strategies for China to tackle the current problems in maintaining sea power, and concluded that the CPC attaches great importance to the interests of the state and the people and has made outstanding contributions in this area and found a correct way for China to construct a coherent system of its sea interests and become a modern sea power. Approaches of historical and contrastive analysis and cross-discipline methods have been adopted in reaching the conclusion.This paper is composed of introduction, chapter one to six and conclusion.Introduction: defined sea power and the relationship between the CPC and the sea power, and outlined the academic and practical value of the research.Chapter One: explored the history of fighting for sea power between the countries in the world, and summarized the representative views and their basic ideas.Chapter Two: investigated the loss of sea power in modern China and the efforts made by the Chinese people then to regain the lost sea power, with special emphasis on the basic understanding of sea power by the CPC.Chapter Three: researched the struggles by the CPC in fighting against the encroachment of Chinese sea power by Japan and America during the Resistance War against Japan and the Liberation War.Chapter Four: maintained that the regaining of the sea power by the CPC around the founding of the PRC not only put an end to the western warship policy in China, but also took hold of the navigation rights of coastal and internal waters, pilotage, sovereignty of customs, etc., laying down a solid foundation for the healthy development of the sea interests of China. Chapter Five: summed up the outstanding achievements in maintaining and consolidating the national sea power by the CPC and the Chinese government: not only fought against the blockade and control on the sea against the new China by the western opponents and the former hegemonic Soviet Union, but also resisted against the inland and coastal raiding by the Chiang clique supported by the US, and the thirst for the Chinese sea interests by the neighboring countries.
