In the media age, who and how to use the media is regarded as an important indicator of the level of democratic politics. During Taiwan's political democratization process, all types of media have played an important role in different historical stages, and form the political situation of the contemporary media politics in Taiwan.At present, research about this content focus on political subjects in the mainland, while rarely on communication field. In Taiwan, scholars are interested in the relationship between media and politics and do abundant research. However, the results of their research is mostly short-term, or about the relationship between the media and politics showed in time-specific events (such as elections). Quantitative research method is the major method.This article focuses on the displacement of media in Taiwan's political system, studies the role that media played in Taiwan's democratization process and analyzes Taiwan's democratic development level. The article will give answer to three questions: "Why do the media occupy an important position in the Taiwan's politics? ""How did the media play its role in the political democratic process?", "What is essence that media played a political role? "This article points out that in the course of Taiwan's political democratization, the media is firstly political media, with development of the democratization, politics emerges in the form of political media. However, this change is more external change, little or no change in the substantial relationship between the media and politics. Ideology of Taiwan's politics makes various political forces to possess or seek the support of the media, media is manipulated by political parties so that it did not become the "fourth power" that should be in democratic society.In this paper, the difference is: in the dimension of time, make comprehensive description of all types of media in the political process of democratization, in the dimensions of problem, based on communication theories, mainly absorb research of political science, sociology, social psychology, symbols and other subjects, and use cultural studies as a theoretical research methods. At the intersection of history and theory, carding a clear historical context, thereby revealing Taiwan's political nature under the media surface.
