In this paper, the research object was the northeast coal occurrence tectonic zone, theresearch about the tectonic evolution of the coal-bearing basins in the Northeast region was basedon the entire Eurasian regional tectonic. According to the main line of the evolution from aprototype coal basin to coal occurrence tectonic zone, the regional tectonic, sedimentaryenvironment, prototype basin characteristics, deformation and basin evolution and dynamics of thebackground of Northeast China were comprehensive analyzed. Through the research of prototypecoal basin, the classification scheme of China’s major coal-bearing prototype basin wasestablished. Articles’ studies suggest that the formation and later transformation of the Northeastcoal basin is mainly controlled by Mongolia-Okhotsk oceanic tectonic domain and thecircum-Pacific Ocean tectonic domain. The article discourse depositional environment anddistribution characteristics of the basin and prototype basin and its tectonic features from Jurassicto Cenozoic, explores the tectonic evolution of the basin at different times. Also, the articleestablish the dynamic models of evolution of Northeast Mesozoic and Cenozoic coal basins.Finally, according to the principle of division of coal occurrence tectonic units, the northeast wasdivided into3coal occurrence tectonic subregions and11coal occurrence tectonic zones. The3coal occurrence tectonic subregions and11coal occurrence tectonic zones were discussed.
