In recent years, cluster-based coordination polymers have attracted considerable attention because of their potential application in magnetism, luminescence, guest inclusion, catalytic, adsorption and drug delivery. Also, as the clusters could serve as high-connected nodes, the cluster-based coordination polymers may reveal unique topologies. In this dissertation, we study the synthesis, structure, and properties of cluster-based coordination polymers. Forty-four new coordination polymers constructed with polycarboxylic acids, metal clusters and auxiliary ligands (such as bipyridine and rigid/flexibile dibenzimidazole ligands) have been synthesized under hydrothermal/solvothermal conditions, and their magnetic, adsorption and fluorescent properties have also been studied. The main contents of our work are summarized as below:1. Five polynuclear cluster-based coordination polymers with5-nitroisophthalic acid as the main ligand have been synthesized. As the auxiliary ligand,4,4’-dipyridylamine participates in the construction of coordination polymers. Furthermore, the topology, magnetic and photoluminescence properties of these coordination polymers have been investigated.2. Fourteen cluster-based coordination polymers were synthesized with1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate and its derivatives under hydrothermal/solvothermal conditions. The topologies of the obtained coordination polymers have been investigated.3. The synthesis and magnetic properties of a series of cluster-based coordination polymers with naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid as main ligand have been studied. Rigid and flexibe dibenzimidazoles were used as auxiliary ligands in the synthesis of these materials. The topology, magnetic and photoluminescence properties of the obtained coordination polymers have been investigated.4. Sixteen coordination polymers with4,4’-bibenzoicacid-2,2’-sulfone as main ligand have been synthesized at different reacting temperatures and solvents under hydrothermal/solvothermal conditions. The topology, as well as luminescent and magnetic properties of these complexes has been investigated.
