Ecological Civilization Construction Of The Contemporary Vision

The technical rationality is a dominant way of thinking as the core of science andtechnology in industrial civilized society. Its ideological foundation is based on theresearch results of the mechanical view of nature and modern science. It decompose,reduces and controls the implementation of object technology. It is in persuit of theobjective of maximizing benefits that also is the value. In industrial civilizationsociety, the technical rationality performed the function of ideology.Technical rationality has played an extremely important role in the300years ofthe development of industrial civilization. Under the guidance of the technicalrationality, the economy has grown, social wealth has increased, and the people’sliving conditions have improved. At the same time, more and more mineral resourceshav been exploited by humen through new scientific and technological means, moreand more lands have been rulely used than before, more forest has been felled thanbefore, more industrial pollutants have been discharged than before. Such productionmode and lifestyle of mass exploitation, production, consumption as well as emissionsdamaged to the world’s ecological environment. After the1930s, environmentalpollution incident sounded a warning to humanity again and again, what had beenhappened in many advanced countries, such as UK, USA and Japan. We can not helpasking what had caused such a serious ecological and environmental problems?The ecological crisis is the combined result of a variety of reasons, such as thetoo fast speed of economic development, imperfect political system, incompletehumane culture, or some specific reasons, including technology, population and so on.However, these can not be separated from human behaviors, and behaviors arecontrolled by the way of thinking. Therefore, the emergence of the ecological crisishas proven that the guidance of technical rational can not solve all the problemsencountered in the process of the human development, also it can not guide thedevelopment of ecological civilization. So, in order to build an ecological civilization,we should shift the way of thinking, that is to realize the shift from the technicalrationality to the ecological rationality.In the part of introductory, I introduced the background of the topic selection ofthis thesis, and points out that this thesis will research the ecological civilization construction in the perspective of rationality. After that, the core concepts that arerelated to this thesis, the technical rationality and the ecological rationality, areintroduced. Then this part systematic summarizes of the research status concering thematter of ecological civilization construction and the research of ecologicalcivilization from the perspective of the technical rationality and the ecologicalrationality. At last, it has expounded the theoretical significance, practical significance,and the researching methods used in the thesis. The main part of this thesis is dividedinto four chapters. A brief summary of each chapter is as follows:In the first chapter, I discussed internal connection between the technicalrationality and ecological crisis. In this part, first of all, it systematic investigates thehistory of the formation and development of the technical rationality, states the truefeatures of the technical rationality, reviews the arrogation of the technical rationalityin period of the industrial civilization, and explains the disadvantages of the technicalrationality hegemony. Then it analizes that the roots of the ecological crisis istechnology rationality, and reveals that the technology alienation makes relationshipbetween the human and the nature deterioration.In the second chapter, I discussed the great significance of the ecologicalrationality to the ecological civilization construction. The reasion of the rise ofecological civilization is happened to ecological crisis. The construction of ecologicalcivilization need a new rationality because the basis of rationality in industrialcivilization can not meet the needs of the construction of ecological civilization. Sothe ecological rationality emerged. The ecological rationality is a special form ofhuman rationality, it is a way of thinking for the basic idea of the harmony betweenhuman and nature. The ecological rationality’s basic sprit is harmony, mutuallybeneficial, and symbiosis, and its practical foundation is the limit of survival. It canprovide impetus, regulate the direction, give guidance for the development ofecological civilization.In the third chapter, I discussed the path from the technical rationality to theecological rationality. The technical rationality and the ecological rationality are allproducts of history and human’s special ways of thinking in different periods. Theemergence and development of them characterizes the progress of human rationality.However, they are different in some aspects of connotation, ideological foundation,pursuit of value, ultimate goals, attitude towards the relationship between human and nature, consumer attitudes。 These differents are conflict in reality, such asdevelopment concept, values, model of economic development, and modalities forthe accounting. In the thesis, I put forward a new path that reconstruct the humanrationality in the perspective of way of thinking, which is different from thetraditional methods.In the fourth chapte, I discussed the path of the construction of ecologicalcivilization at present which is beyond the technical rationality, carry forward theecological rationality, maintain necessary tension between the technical rationalityand the ecological rationality. As a way of thinking, the technical rationality hasarrogation of instrumental rationality in the period of industrial civilization, but it isindispensability in the course of the construction of ecological civilization. Thetechnical rationality is an important part of human reason. The technical rationalitywill be for ever as long as technology is existence. We should make the technicalrationality more perfect in order to make it playing positive and active roles in theprocess of construction of ecological civilization. We can find some evidences thatbeyond the technical rationality in the fields of theoretical study and real life, whichhave great significance for the development of the technical rationality in future. Thecarrying forward of the ecological rationality shoule make it generate in theconsciousness, expand in practice, and correct in development. Keeping necessarytension between the technical rationality and the ecological rationality is to balancethe contradictions between Ideal and reality, building bridges from the traditionaloutlook on the development and demands of green development, and building asupporting system for the diversity culture for forming the ecological rationality. Atlast, the thesis analyzes the contemporary status of the ecological civilization in Chinaand suggests to build the ecological civilization for lack of the ecological rationality.In the last part, I systematically summarized the conclusion and the innovation intheis thesis. In addition, this part sorts out some topics what will be researched fromthe level of theory and practice in the future.
