On Development View Of Contemporary Ecosocialism

Since mid-1990s, a number of the new generation of eco-socialists started to appear influencely in the west.They appear to make the eco-socialism to a new look, which can be summed up the following four topics:(1) defense Marx and Engels productivity development concept;(2) the ecological critique of development concept of the "first epoch" socialism;(3) the ecological critique of capitalist development concept;(4) the future picture and its implementation. Specifically, Firstly, in view of western academia Interrogation of the Marx Engels’ productivity development concept, eco-socialists have defended Marx and Engels from the technical concept of development,"to control natural" concept and communism conceived perspective. This defense allows us to recognize that Marxism faces of the explanatory power of the ecological problems and the ability to think critically, of course, there are certain inadequacies in their defense. Secondly, in view of environmental problems of the "first epoch" socialist countries, the eco-socialists separately make critical analysis from the point of view of democratic traditions, values and ideals, political and economic characteristics, limits to growth. This analysis is of great help for us to recognize the essence of the traditional socialist countries’ ecological problems of the Soviet Union and other countries, but which does not prevent us to dig the ecological heritage of traditional socialism. Thirdly, in view of environmental problems of the capitalist countries today, the eco-socialists, based on clear situation of environmental problems, explore the root causes of the ecological crisis, criticize impossibility of ecological capitalism. This analysis is of great help for us to identify the reasons for the ecological crisis, which laid the foundation for us to overcome the ecological crisis, but there are a lot of one-sided analysis of eco-socialists. Eco-socialists from the three dimensions of socialism, ecology and feminism depict the blueprint of the future green society and practice efforts made in the world. The blueprint for the design of eco-socialists are more detailed than before, their practical efforts obtain a certain effect, but whether can become an alternative choice remains to be seen. The contemporary eco-socialist concept of development of these topics have a lot of inspiration value to China’s scientific development and ecological civilization construction, but its meaning and path selection have differences to the scientific concept of development.
