By selecting the North Canal (Beijing segment) in Haihe River Basin as aninvestigation example of surface waters supplied by unconventional sources, thisdissertation firstly studied the pollution priority factors, characteristics, types as well asreasons in typical upstream and midstream sections of North Canal (Beijing segment).Considering the present pollution characteristics of surface waters, we furtherdemonstrated and compared the operational adaptability and systematic performance offour major water purification techniques in the treatment of typical contaminatedsurface water from unconventionally water resource supplement. These techniquesinclude novel biological immobilized membrane bioreactor (IMBR) technologycomprised of macroporous functional carriers, ozone biological activated carbon(O3-BAC) technique, and a process combining units of magnetic ion exchange resin-coagulation and sedimentation-ultrafiltration membrane purification. In addition,three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy (EEM) analysis was used to explore themicroscopic regulation mechanism of pollution control in the key pollution control units, such as ozone oxidation and magnetic ions exchange resin purification. Finally, basedon the analysis of the purifying effects and technical economy of these different watertreatment integrated processes as well as engineering demonstration and application, theadaptability of these techniques was proposed, and the unconventionally suppliedsurface water pollution control system was initially established.
