A Research On Community Health Management And Communication

This thesis takes community health management and health communication in China’s transition period as its research objects, focuses on current development, problems and influences, and then with multi-level theories, constructs an effective community health management and communication mode that is government-oriented and commun ity-autonomous.Objectives:1. To perfect system construction of government-oriented community health management and communication.2. To build a platform for community health management and communication to discuss and develop simultaneously.3. To develop community health management and communication step by step.Contents:Chapter One (introduction), considers the background of development of medicine mode, situation of community and community health and impact of social transition, and analyzes the significance of this study and introduces the main problems and study methods.Chapter Two is presentation of relevant theories and literature review. At first we need to clarify such concepts as community, community management, community such as how: health management, health communication and community health communication. Then the thesis explains theories, such as community construction, community management, citizen participation, inter-personal communication, organization communication, mass communication and media effects. The chapter concludes with a review of this field from both home and abroad.Chapter Three looks into the major contradictions in China’s health undertakings during the transition period, analyzes the tasks, principles and aims of community health management,puts forward problems in community health management- government-oriented mode leads to more transfuse and less nurture; low management efficiency results in imbalanced allocation of scarce health resources; participation members lack active and interactive mentality.Chapter Four analyzes the current situation of community health management, which is brought to the track of community construction based on community health education and promotion, and then puts forward its practice mode and current difficulties. The research is combined with empirical analysis on community health education in Jiangsu Province and investigation on the media usage by citizens in Nanjing. This is the creative point of the entire thesis.Chapter Five cites the examples of community health management and communication in UK, Germany and US, and discusses the world-renowned community rehabilitation mode in Hong Kong so as to promote the development in China mainland.Chapter Six and Seven, the main parts of this thesis, make prospective construction of government-oriented and community-autonomous community health management and communication.Chapter Six, considering the function of government, discusses the necessity of managing community health on a system level, anatomizes regulation promotion on national base and regulation innovation on community base. Seven strategies are presented; shift of work concentration, adjustment of community fund-raising, community health management service provided by nation, management of salary-performance, implementation of labor employment system, perfection of social security, mode of contracted health management, and introduction of public health hotline.Chapter Seven is based on community-autonomous health management and communication. Government function and community organization are taking fundamental changes and thus community health management will enjoy more opportunities. The author takes community management as the major element, advances health management plans that set medical treatment apart from prevention and health care, and care is provided by community. The thesis also puts forward innovative measures of communication mode based on community-sponsored net. Furthermore, the thesis introduces three modes of health education and promotion with the aim to form correct media use habit among citizens and nurture opinion leads in communities.Significance:Theoretically, the thesis clarifies the research situation of community health management and communication, widens the field of community health management and communication, diversifies the research contents. Practically, this study is beneficial to understand the essence and importance of community health management and communication and lay foundation for implementation step by step and finally cover the whole nation to benefit all Chinese people.
