Nowadays, in the context of vigorous development and cultivation of national strategic emerging industries, cultural and creative industry and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) industry have become an important part of the strategic emerging industries which have great advantages and promising market in Chinese national economic and social development.TCM is a medical science which has evolved and developed from the practice of daily life and manufacture and the process of dealing with diseases in the last thousands of years by Chinese. As China is a vast multi-national country with distinguishing regional differences, TCM also has gradually formed regional characteristics, which include the significant regional habitats of Chinese Medicine, the direct correlations between the quality and the curative effect of original Chinese medicine, and the characteristics formed by integration of TCM and other regional TCM cultures.Cultural and Creative Industry has been rapidly developped since the16th CPC National Congress to meet the great economic and social needs. Cultural and Creative Industry is an emerging industry constructed in the social context of globalization, modernization, information science and technology, and the development of humanistic science.TCM philosophy has put forward a proposition on "TCM philosophy’s mission of the age" which is to create the "Chinese culture’s age of medicine". TCM industry has good basis for development and great capability to integrate with other cultural industry as TCM is rooted deeply in traditional Chinese culture. Drawing lessons from development of Cultural and Creative Industry, TCM has every probability to get onto a new track of sound development. However, the integration of TCM and Cultural and Creative Inudustry has not been naid enough attention till today. Based on these current circumstance, this essay asserted that developing TCM Cultural and Creative Industry, which is a creative way based on culture, is a strategy to promote development of TCM culture.This essay started with examining the precondition and background of developing TCM Cultural and Creative Industry and announced that it is necessary and also practicable to develop TCM Cultural and Creative Industry. Furthermore, based on theories of clustered industry and Cultural and Creative Industry and TCM basic theory, author redefined Cultural and Creative Industry and raised the concept of TCM Cultural and Creative Industry. Through analyzing current state of regional TCM Cultural and Creative Industry with the example in Hunan province, SWOT (Strength,Weakness, Opportunity,Threat) of Hunan TCM Cultural and Creative Industry was discussed. Learning lessons from the success experiences of Cultural and Creative Industry both domestic and abroad, the problems of existing TCM Cultural and Creative Industry was pointed out. Mechanism of driving force and clustered methods of TCM Cultural and Creative Industry development was studied to establish the route and patterns of clustered regional TCM Cultural and Creative Industry.This essay also applied theory to practice and preposed suggestions for developing TCM Cultural and Creative Industry in Hunan province: industry should be clustered and this is the main direction; training of TCM Cultural and Creative Industry personnel is the key issue; developing creative projects with Hunan TCM characters is the break-through point; setting up a Cultural and Creative Industry fund and establishing a TCM Cultural and Creative Industry council should be the support system.
