| When the object which in the field of view has some same characteristics with working memory representation, and take the form of interference with the current task of visual stimuli, working memory representation can automatically guide choice of visual attention to the stimulus, this phenomenon is called visual attention capture based on working memory representation. In this paper, on the basis of the review of previous research on attentional capture characterization of visual working memory, combined with the characteristics of the Deaf visual attention, to see if different types of working memory characterization have effect on deaf people’s visual attention, aiming at exploring the characteristic of Deaf people’s visual attention during working memory. The study is divided into five parts:The first part is a literature review. It discusses the relationship between working memory and visual selective attention,to make a detailed introduction of visual attention capture based on working memory representation.Reviewing the achievements and progress of deaf people’s visual attention. The second part of the study is problem posing and research design. This section describes the research objectives and design framework, and a detailed description of research paradigm from a macro level. The third part is the study one. This section discusses the impact of non-verbal characterization stored in the working memory to visual attentionon the deaf, designed a series of three experiments:Experiment1investigate the impact of graphical representation on deaf peoples’visual attention capture. The results showed that during the two features based on color and shape dimensions of visual attention capture, deaf people react faster than hearing people both in the early and late period of selective attention, so we can infer that deaf people present sensitivity in the course of union feature attention capture.Experiment2examined the effect of feature value on visual attention capture. The result show that shape value capture more attention resources of deaf people in the early period of selective attention. In the late period of selective attention deaf people react slower than hearing people on attention capture which based on feature value, and the color value is not show strong effect on deaf people. Experiment3use non-verbal abstract shapes as material,to research the impact of non-verbal processing on visual attention capture of deaf people. The results showed that both of deaf people and hearing people appear attention capture phenomenon based on abstract shapes, and in the early period of selective attention, the abstract shape value gained more attention of deaf people.Deaf people react slower than hearing people in both early and late period of selective attention.According to the load perceptual load theory, visual search on single characterization is at a low level,so we infer that deaf people react low performance on the condition of low perceptual load. The fourth part is the study two. This part is on the basis of study one to make further study of verbal working memory characterization which have effect on deaf people’s visual attention.Designed two experiments at a series:Experiment4investigated the impact of verbal information on visual attention capture. The result show that in the working memory phase verbal information can guide attention to select visual stimulation which matched with verbal information, deaf people react low performance in the period of visual attention capture based on verbal information.Experiment5investigated the impact of verbal information which partial match with visual stimulus. The result show that, compare to shape information the color stimulus matched with verbal information has stronger effect on visual attention capture. The shape stimulus matched with verbal information gained more attention resource of deaf people than hearing people. The fifth part is general discussion. This section summarizes the major results of deaf people’s visual attention capture based on working memory representation. Analyzed the reasons for results which based on perceptual load theory and compensation hypothesis. And rethink the limition of this study on sample selection, research design and research method.Maked a further expectation on deaf people’s visual attention based on working memory,in order to make better serveice on deaf people’s education and rehabilitation. |
