This paper about thecomparison of Confucius and Jesus’ life-death ethics is mainly based on two big textsthe Analects and the New Testament Four Gospels. The ontology of life and death asthe starting point, the attitude on life and death for the performance, the value of lifeand death as the core, the transcendence of life and death on the destination, from fouraspects to be a new comparison for Confucius and Jesus’ life-death ethics. The ontology of life and death is the foundation of Confucius and Jesus’life-death ethics, which determines three other aspects of life-death ethics. AboutConfucius and Jesus’ nature of life is embodied in the essential difference betweenheaven and god. On the one hand, the common performance for human is the most inall things. On the other hand, it decides the longitudinal orderly and transverse equaldifferent secular ethics order. In the front of heaven and god, Confucius and Jesusboth are the highest virtue models. But the relationship of Confucius and the heavenmust not equate with the relationship of Jesus and god’s father-son. So the attitudebetween Confucius to heaven with Jesus to God and the counterforce havedifferences and similarities. Confucius and Jesus have found the goodness of humannature. But Confucius looks for the life mode of "know good-pray for good-supreme good ", and Jesus pursues the life way of "supreme good-original sin-salvation-good", which produces the differences and similarities on their lifecultivation methods. The attitude on life and death is the most powerful external performance ofConfucius and Jesus’ life-death ethics. Confucius and Jesus have the difference withthe unity of mind body and spirit meat binary on life-death attitude,"heart" and"spirit" can not completely replace. But Confucius and Jesus advocate respecting forlife, fearing of life, that life level, and the spiritual life is superior to the flesh, and appreciate and reveal the positive tenacity and mining potential spirit. At the sametime, Confucius and Jesus respectively show loyalty breakthrough and toleranceinnovative attitude towards life."Do not do to others what you would not have themdo to you" and "positive gold law" have a similar position and the same moral appealsin their theory systems, but the degree of difficulty of moral practice show obviousdifferences. In the face of death Confucius and Jesus are calm, but Jesus is an absolutefatalist, Confucius is not complete. However, Confucius ’ going through fire and waterand Jesus ’ out of death into life gain the eternal life in nature. The value of life and death is the core of Confucius and Jesus’ life-death ethics. This paper will mainly be cross-referenced with Confucius’"sincerity, propriety, benevolence" of the "Three Constant Virtues" and Jesus’"faith, hope and love""ThreeMain Virtues". The comparison about Confucius and Jesus’"faith" is mainly in thelife subjectivity, but the differences and similarities of "propriety" and "hope" exist invalue generated way and appeal, and the relationship of "benevolence" and "love" isin their inherent value foundation, extension and the ultimate goal. The transcendence of life and death is the destination of Confucius and Jesus’life-death ethics. On the way of beyond life and death Confucius and Jesus have themost fundamental difference which is the internal and external transcend, but theycontain inside and outside ways and means which have differences and Meanwhilesimilarities, in the transcendence life-death specific path Confucius and Jesus revealthe life forms of "the ego" and "the greater self", but the specific content show greatdifferences. In the beyond life-death target, Confucius will be the other shore in thisshore, but Jesus will quite separate them. They seek immortality and eternal life beingsecular and sacred essential difference, but which implicit the undeniable generalitywhat is bringing up "people of a new type". Through carefully considering Confuciusand Jesus’ differences and similarities of life-death ethics, this is not only conducive tobeing rational dialectical view to Confucius and Jesus’ life-death idea, but alsoprovides the valuable spiritual resources for the construction of contemporary Chineselife-death outlook.
