With the philosophy of Laozi as the core, the philosophy of Emperor Huang and Laozi has utilized the Taoist thoughts of Laozi and applied it to political practices and given rise to the unique application of Taoism. Accordingly, the philosophy of Emperor Huang and Laoz has become the guideline for the management of the state and political practice, thanks to its theoretical richness, profoundness and utility.This thesis is based on the excavated documents and archives from such classics as The Yellow Emperor’s Four Classics, Yiyin Jiuzhu, Guanzi, Shenzi, the Outer Chapter of Zhuangzi, Yiwenzi,, Heguanzi, Wenzi, Lushi Chunqiu and Huainanzi. With the multidisciplinary methodology based on the studies of historic studies, philosophy and political sciences, the meticulous and comprehensive analisis of the Taoism application of the philosophy of Emperor Huang and Laozi has been achieved in this thesis. The philosophy of Emperor Huang and Laozi has been correlated with the contemporary political status quo of China and unveil the philosophy of liberty, science, democracy, justice and the rule of law in the philosophy of Emperor Huang and Laozi. Based on the analysis of the contemporary political system and political philosophy, the specific advice for the construction of political system and reform has been proposed.This thesis unveil the essence of the philosophy of Emperor Huang and Laozi, which is elaborated as Wu Wei (creative quietude), the art of letting-be and following the natural way, naming and punishment and cultivation. Originating from the Wu Wei of Laozi and Zhuangzi, The philosophy of Emperor Huang and Laozi combined the confucianist Benevolence and virtues, with the ruling Confucianist philosophy of etiquette. the philosophy of Emperor Huang and Laozi also borrowed the methodology and philosophy of legalism, which makes the philosophy of Emperor Huang and Laozi more feasible, practical and positive.The philosophy of Emperor Huang and Laozi attaches great importance to the practice of following the natural ways and specific conventionas, which is not only important for personal cultivation, but also the state management by the emperors.
