Studies On Narrative Mode Of South Korean New Novel

Narrative mode is the relationship type between the narrator and the story. The narrator always develop the plot, describe the characters to the readers and to make the judgment of feelings, ideas and value in novel’ s world, so the narrator always need to take a certain way when he or she is storytelling. Going ahead of narrative researches throughout Chinese and foreign countries’, when many researchers set up their theoretical mode, although there are many differences in details, to look at the narrative space, narrative time, narrative perspective in general for these three aspects. Korean ancient novel in narrative time basically on using "one person one generation" coherent narrative, the narrative space relative to the non-physical space, basic uses the omnipotence in narrative point of view of perspective. This traditional novel narrative mode, at the end of the19th century, the early twentieth century impacted by the western literary theory, and in the process of a series of’dialogue’, the foreign novel in the form of active transplant and traditional literary forms of creative transformation and jointly contributed to the transformation of South Korean novel narrative mode.The South Korean new novel from the content point of view, outstanding subjects such as be civilized, new education, abolishing all blind faith; From the point of structure, the new novel is the transformation process from traditional novels to modern novels, it plays an important role of cohesion and continuity in ancient and modern times. But according to the prior research materials found that south Korean scholars often put more energy into data collection and list, and theoretical depth is not enough. So this article will take the narrative theory as the instruction, by using the methods of text and the original empirical system and comprehensive outline of the new novel narrative pattern transformation.This paper is divided into six parts.The first chapter is the introduction, it mainly clarifies some basic issues which are studied in this paper, including the object and scope of the study and the purpose and significance, research status, research theory and methods.The second chapter is the external research on narrative mode of South Korean new novel’s transformation in cultural background for the novel. From South Korean modern social and cultural background, transformation of modern South Korean novel theory and text characteristic, from three aspects of the impact of the outside novel, reduction of South Korean new novels historical and cultural background.The third chapter is transformation of South Korean new novel’s narrative time. There is close relationship between the novel’s narrative space and narrative in the story of the time, according to the needs of the plot, the South Korean new novel’s author make the art processing in the narrative time. Such as narrative time of ellipsis, pause, overlap, etc. This time pattern fully show the character’s psychological change of process, to reveal the characteristics and destiny, and it will produce special aesthetic effect.The fourth chapter is transformation of South Korean new novel’s narrative space. In the novel, time and space are interdependent and indivisible. Any individual and group behavior must be in a specific space, space can be said to be our action and consciousness of orientation. On the other hand, the space must be perceive and use by people, then it can become a living space and enter the field of meaning and emotion. South Korean new novels with different space-time scene or integrated to obtain the special aesthetic feeling, and with the reality of relatively concentrated space for novel stage, it show us the scenes of bigotry.The fifth chapter is transformation of South Korean new novel’s narrative perspective. Novel in a certain sense is a narrative art, it is a kind of narrative style, narrative text and when narrator describes events characters, etc, it could not depart from the narrative perspective, narrator according to the narrative perspective to show all things which he observed. South Korean new novel inherits the traditional novel omnisciently narrative perspective at the same time, it also limits the view of the narrator, to enhance the realism of the novel, intentionally discord between the author and narrator, or provide another new perspective left to the reader more aftertaste, then dash forward show the narrator’s mind, mood, experience, and it can display from the inside out.The sixth chapter is conclusion. According to the comparison research with modern novel narrative mode induces transformation of South Korean new novel and the meaning of the South Korean novel’s history.Prior researches about the South Korean new novel are mostly studies on the level of the content of novel, and there are only a few studies in novel’s form. In the information which author mastered, there is no transformation thesis which comprehensive and systematical research of the South Korean new novel narrative mode. It is a new trial to the studies on the narrative mode of South Korean new novel’s. Because of the limitation author’s knowledge, this paper studies briefly the transformation of narrative mode ofSouth Korean novels’, the purpose is that to throw out a minnow to catch a whale, in order to attract attention of more scholars and researches.
