Kawakami Hajime is a rare Marxism scholar who has made far-reaching influence in Japan. He was very concerned about the progress of chinese revolution.He takes Confucius’"If a man in the morning hear the right way, he may die in the evening hear regret" as his motto and was pursuing the truth through his life, wrote reams and leaved a lot of academic works in Japan.He has made outstanding contributions in Marxism research.Kawakami Hajime’s writings have leaped over seventy years, basic corresponding to the whole Marxism process of China, from the enlightenment period, development period to the mature period. His works has been the important resources of Chinese Marxism study and acceptance at the early-mid of the last century, as well as they have influenced and cultivate a lot of Chinese Marxists.With the aid of textual research and ideological analysis, case study and macroscopic analysis, text analysis and comparative study, base on the relationship between Kawakami Hajime and the contemporary Chinese Marxists, analysis and demonstration Kawakami Hajime’s purpose in the dissemination of Marxism in China.Around "Three Li"(Li Dazhao, Li Da, Li Hanjun), concurrently other Marxists to explore the effect by Kawakami Hajime’s writings.Firstly, this dissertation has discussed the effect of Kawakami Hajime on the Marxism’s dissemination of Li Dazhao. As a scholar who systematically introduced Marxism firstly in China, Li Dazhao plays a decisive role in the dissemination of Marxism in China. Because of Marxism in China is still in the embryonic stage, we can imagine how difficult to understand the Marxism. The effects of Kawakami Hajime on Li Dazhao manifest in that he not only accepted reasonable explanations of Kawakami Hajime to the Marxism, but also was inevitably affected by Kawakami Hajime’s wrong understanding to Marxism. In historical materialism, he absorbed on the viewpoint of decisionfunction of the productivity. In the theory of class struggle, he absorbed the views of Kawakami Hajime’s interpretation to "class struggle", emphasis on the class struggle consciousness, division of Class Struggle Period and so on. Beside he absorbed wrong views of Kawakami Hajime, such as the "material and spiritual both". On fully considering the Chinese revolution needs, LiDazhao placed special emphasis on class struggle and people’s subjective initiative.Secondly, this dissertation has elucidated the relationship between Kawakami Hajime and the Marxism’s dissemination of Li Da. Li Da is a master of Chinese philosophy of Marxism. In the primary stage of his research, he influenced by Kawakami Hajime’s theory of social evolution and class struggle and focused on the function of productivity in the social change; In his deepen stage, he translated "Marx economics theory" of Kawakami Hajime, learned from Kawakami’s works, such as "practice materialism", deepened the understanding of the role of practice in the field.Based on Li Da’s translation, Mao Zedong thought a lot, such as the revolutionary united front.Thirdly, this dissertation has analyzed the relationship between Kawakami Hajime and the Marxism’s dissemination of Li Hanjun and other Marxists. Li Hanjun has higher theoretical accomplishment of Marxists in that period and he was one of the founders of the communist party of China. He had studied in Japan for fourteen years.Benefit from his good foreign language level,he absorbed nutrients from books of the Japanese. The effects of Kawakami Hajime on Li Hanjun mainly manifest in political economics research, historical materialism and the theory of class struggle and so on. In addition, this dissertation has discussed Kawakami Hajime’s effects on Marxism transition, the creation of literature, archaeological research of Guo Moruo,"substance" understanding of Shi Fuliang, historical materialism and educational research of Fan Shoukang, economics research of Chen Baoyin, historical materialism and historical research methods of Du Guoxiang and so on.The "conclusion" has also pointed out the important role of the works of Kawakami Hajime in the dissemination of Marxism in China. Firstly, his works is an important source of Marxism in China around the broad "may4th movement of1919"(1915-1921). Secondly, his works has developed the first generation of Chinese Marxist; thirdly, his works has provided a reference model for the formation of Marxism’s ideological system of China; fourthly, through the works of Kawakami Hajime, based on Marxism, a lot of scholars has promoted and deepened the research of modern china.Overall, the works about Marxism of Kawakami has played a great role in the dissemination of Marxism in China. His role is not accidental, the most fundamental reason is that his works adapted the need of then China and the revolution.
