| Autism can be found in different countries and different regions. It is a great shock that the number of people who suffered from autism is increasing constantly, so it has gained more and more social attention all over the world. Language barrier is one of the core symptoms of autism, and almost all children with autism have language barrier. The author has clinical experience in traditional Chinese medicine for many years and collected, tracked, and interviewed many cases from autism agencies in both China and Vietnam. After thorough trimming research of these cases from the linguistics perspective, this paper classified the autistic children’s language performance as three kinds of linguistic barrier features, and created language assessment for autistic children according to this classification, and then put forward the approach to the language rehabilitation pointedly. This dissertation is divided into four chapters:Chapter 1: Introduction. This chapter expounds the practical significance of ―out of loneliness‖, introduces the research background and organizes the research results. It expounds the basic concepts of autism and related concept of language barrier, introduces statistics about autism of various countries today.Chapter 2: Classification of the autistic children’s language barrier. This chapter combs the main characteristic of normal children’s language development, and then analyzes the language barrier and related problems of autistic children’s language development. It classifies the autistic children’s language performance as three kinds of linguistic barrier features: totally speechless, partial speech and speech without communication goals. Among them, partial speech is the focus of the research. According to their specific characteristics, the author classifies as eight language barrier including phonetic, semantic vocabulary, comprehension, expressive language, grammar, pragmatics, writing, reading obstacle.Chapter 3: Assessment of autistic children language ability. This paper summarized present study, and did comprehensive classification on the basis of those cases. According to autistic children’s different degree of language barrier, the author created thirteen language assessments: early spontaneous language skills assessment, repeat and imitation, requirement, naming, auditory obedience, expressive language, receptive language in collective activities, dialogue interactive language, non-linguistic skills, reading, writing, language structure and visual reaction.Chapter 4: Rehabilitation of autistic children’s language. According to the linguistic features and language assessment, the author put forward specific language rehabilitation strategies and methods, mainly created eight rehabilitation methods for autistic children’s voice disorders, semantic and vocabulary obstacles, comprehension barrier, expressive barrier, syntax, pragmatics, reading and writing barrier and so on. And put forward the corresponding countermeasures according to the psychological evolution of autistic children’s parents.At present, the studies of autism almost remain in medicine, psychology and special education. This paper aims to explore the problems of autistic children from the perspective of linguistics. The author hopes this research can make people pay more attention to autistic children, hopes people walk into and understand their lonely world, looking for ways to help them out of their silence and lonely world-- "out of loneliness". |
