Since the ideological and political education course was established 30 years ago, the study of specific and microcosmic ideological and political education has obtained a lot of achievements including on the educational objects, targets, contents, methods and etc. These results provide rich and meticulous theoretical and academic preparation for us to grasp the concrete process and law of motion of ideological and political education activity profoundly. However, we also find that for getting better and more scientific developments on the political and ideological education, it’s far from enough to just stay on specific and microscopic researches about accuracy, and we need to have a macroscopic view on political and ideological education more socialistically and completely. Whether from the perspectives or in the practice, space is an essential factor for the sociality and integrity research of the ideological and political education. Meanwhile, with the social development and the progress of information technology, there are many new spatial forms (such as virtual space, ecological space, institutional arrangement space and so on) appear on the basis of original geological space, material space and social space. Ideological and political education is facing more complicated space domains than before. The space research of ideological and political education highlights its necessity.Based on sorting predecessors’study achievement and adequately referring to the thought and views from multi-fields and multi-disciplines,such as space science, education, philosophy, sociology, systematics, ecology, environs, communication, culturology, history and geography, the paper seeks to build a systematic space framework of ideological and political education, and provides theoretical support for establishing space concepts of ideological and political education. This paper makes an exploratory study on the space of ideological and political education from such aspects of spatial category, spatial system, spatial form, spatial evolution, spatial structure and spatial management of ideological and political education and so on. There are seven chapters in this paper, besides the introduction and conclusion. The main contents are as follows:The first chapter of this paper sorts out the knowledge of people to the space and the current theories of space. Including the combing of the ancient and the modern concept of space in our country, the concept of space and reflection of subjects in the west, the space thoughts of Marx and Engels and the space turning of the postmodernism and so on.It requires a certain space perspective for understanding and comprehension of direction and complexity of ideological and political education. On the basis of organizing relevant space theories, the second chapter of this paper tries to put forward the concept of ideological and political education space, and makes an in-depth research concerning the categories of ideological and political education space, mainly discussing the contents and features of ideological and political education space, such as political, sociality, comprehension, practice, openness and so on. Space provides places for ideological and political education and also curbs the practice of it at the same time. And the ideological and political education provides spiritual impetus and directional guidance for the stable development of society and the expansion of human development space, and makes the coordinating and unifying of education receivers’spiritual living space and behavioral space as the vital training objective of it. The discussion of attributes of ideological and political education space does good to our in-depth understandings of the establishment of ideological and political education space categories, and it also helps us further confirm the legitimacy and scientificity of ideological and political education. In order to further study the concept and scope of ideological and political education space, this chapter differentiates and analyses the relation of ideological and political education space with education space, ideological and political education environment and ideological and political education resources.The third chapter of the paper focuses on the space system research of ideological and political education. Starting from the general characteristics and properties of space systems, emphatically discusses the composition and function of the ideological and political education space system. The space system of ideological and political education inherently includes space elements (including geographical environment, teaching places, activity places, communication activities, social practice, cultural mood, etc.), spatial units (including the combinations of social and ecological space, teaching operation space, practice activity space, ideas communication space, institutional arrangements space, discipline development space, etc.), space structures (including traditional and modern ideological and political culture resources and educational techniques, space connotation, space language, space production, as well as the composition and integration of public space, social space and virtual space) and internal and external space of ideological and political education base on it and so on.The fourth chapter of this paper discusses the spatial form of ideological and political education. Spatial form of ideological and political education mainly consists of physical environment factor, spiritual environment factor as well as topological relation, spatial organization relation formed by the above two. It is influenced by the function of ideological and political education. The spatial form of ideological and political education can be divided into macro, medium and micro form and so on.The fifth chapter of this paper sorts out and reviews the spatial development process of ideological and political education. Historically, ideological and political education experienced the development and evolution from the single "instilled-control" space to the "science-participation" space, from the single "ideology-politics" space to the"society-ecology"space,from the single "entity-reality" space to the "virtually-flow" space, where both the connotation and denotation of ideological political educational space get extended and enriched. What lies behind the spatial evolution of ideological and political education is the impetus and push provided by its demand, policy, practice and method. The spatial evolution of ideological and political education also brings us with many revelations, which include:strengthening the spatial relation between theory support and a wider scope of ideological and political education, creating institutional environment and a more scientific spatial planning of ideological and political education, integrating the resource utilization and a more optimized spatial structure of ideological and political education, innovating the method pattern and a more approachable spatial communication of ideological and political education, and grasping the law of development and a more powerful space production of ideological and political education, etc.Based on the above studies on the basic theories of ideological and political education space, the sixth chapter of this paper focuses on deliberating the framework of ideological and political education space in practical perspective. It includes: extending the runspace of education and teaching of ideological and political theory course, promoting educatees’individual spiritual life space of ideological and political education, expanding the educatees’communication and associating space of ideological and political education, actively leading the virtual environmental space in network society, gradually improving institutional arrangement space of ideological and political education, actively building social ecological space of ideological and political education, trying hard to broaden subject development space of ideological and political education and so on. Because of the complexity of space, the space structure of ideological and political education should have comprehensive, three-dimensional and systematic perspective. And the above several aspects of the spatial structure of the ideological and political education are not isolated, exclusive, but mutual, integrated and united in multidimensional space of "grand ideological and political view". Besides, the multidimensional space structure of ideological and political education which based on "the view of ideology and politics" remains more space factors to consider and participate. The ideological and political education space structure is systematic, dynamic and open.For the space of ideological and political education, it is also associated with the problem of its effective management. The seventh chapter of this paper focuses on the problem of the space management of ideological and political education, which includes the orderly allocation of its space resources, the reasonable optimization of its space structure, the effective saving of its costs of development, its space information statistics and utilization and the construction of its management personnel’s professionalism and specialization.On the basis of the above related theoretical and practical researches about ideological and political education space, the remaining part of the paper further discussed the study of ideological and political education space. The author thought that apart from the necessity of doing a systematic basic research on the spatial domain, structure, system, configuration and framework of ideological and political education space, there are also much room left in studies such as integral research of ideological and political education, research in the openness of ideological and political education, study of the justice view of ideological and political education, study of the development outlook of ideological and political education, research in scientific management of ideological and political education and so forth, which are worthy of more careful thoughts and in-depth researches.As an exploratory study of space of ideological and political education, the paper tentatively puts forward the concept and category of space of ideological and political education,the attribute of space of ideological and political education, the opinion that "the educators and the educatees are both subjective space", and the idea for spatial structure of ideological and political education, and try to build an ideological and political education space model during the research with the expect to provide a new angle of view for the ideological and political education space study, in order to inspire its new problem consciousness and produce corresponding new frame for interpretation, so the "grand ideological and political view" will be established further in theory and practice.
