College students are pillars for the construction of the motherland, whose mental health status is related to the future of our country.The medical students have both common characteristics of college students’ psychological development and their own features of the career orientation because of their majors.Researches on mental health status of medical students,analysis of the influencing factors and targeted education and guidance for that can help to improve medical students’ mental health and have a great significance to promote the mental health development of our country.At the same time,researches on the psychological problems of college students play an important role in current medical education.This study selected four main medical student groups from a medical university including five-year undergraduates,seven-year program students,postgraduate students and doctoral students as the research objects.This study was divided into the following three parts:The first part: The thematic framework method was adopted for the qualitative analysis of interview materials for postgraduate students, authoritative experts in different fields and postgraduate student managers.The results showed that the main factors influencing the mental health of postgraduates were congenital factors,growth environment,the quality of life,coping styles and social support.The second part:Scales including SCL- 90,SSRS,TCSQ,SDS,SAS,LOT- R and self-made questionnaire were adopted to analyze the status of mental health,social support,coping styles and optimistic personality for medical students of different levels from a medical university.Structural equation model was built for the quantitative study to analyze the impacts on living quality of mental health,social support,coping styles and optimistic personality. We found that the level of seven-year program students’ mental health was lower than other students. Social support, coping styles, optimistic personality and psychological condition had direct effects on living quality.Living quality was not affectedby a single factor,but the result of the interaction of muti-dimensional factors.Social support and optimistic personality can not only influence the living quality directly,but also can make an indirect impact through mental status and coping styles.The third part: The quantitative comparative analysis of the mental health status and influencing factors was performed for medical doctoral students from a medical university and doctoral students from a comprehensive university as well as graduate students from four universities of different types and the same region.The results showed that medical students were better than the other university students from the respective of mental health and medical education was a major cause of this phenomenon.This study made a quantitative analysis of the status and contrast of mental health,living quality,coping styles and social support for four different medical student group and provided a theoretical basis to understand medical students.On the basis of that,this study performed a contrastive study for medical doctoral students and doctoral students from comprehensive university as well as graduate students from four universities of different types and the same region,and showed that medical education was the main cause for that medical students’ mental health was better than the other university students,meanwhile provided a basis for the construction of intervention mechanisms for college students’ psychological crisis.
