Culture is the bloodline of a nation and spiritual home of people. To realize the Chinese Dream of bringing about a great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, we have to play the role of culture in leading fashion, serving society, educating people and promoting development. In the 1980s, stemming from the modern industrial civilization, along with the tide of reform and opening-up, popular culture developed rapidly and spread widely in China. It developed and grew very fast and soon paralleled to the mainstream culture and the elite culture, forming a One of Three Roles situation in cultural pattern. Now, popular culture has penetrated into each corner of the society, and even integrated in the undergraduates’ live and study in an all-dimensional and multi-angle way, affects the artistic appreciation, consumption concept, life style and values of the undergraduates.The group of undergraduates is young and active, which is sensitive to new things, so they always sense the emerging popular culture early and become the main transmitter. Today, popular culture has already become an indivisible part of undergraduates’ live and study. It brings convenient, fashionable and abundant culture life to the undergraduates. Meanwhile, it also affects every aspect of undergraduates’ life in a silent transforming way and a very complicated form. The come about and widespread of popular culture has a profound effect on the object, content and environment of ideological and political education, it also brings impact and challenge to the undergraduates’ ideological and political education.First of all, this thesis sorted out the many concepts of popular culture, and proposed the concept of popular culture under the vision of this thesis. It believes the popular culture originated from western industrial civilization, and widespreaded along with the applying of the modern science and technology, and the rising of cultural globalization. This thesis further analyzed the key feature of the popular culture. It also discusses the relationship of popular culture, mainstream culture and elite culture.Secondly, the thesis expounds the theoretical foundation and relevant reference of popular culture. Its study of popular culture is based on the cultural ideology of Marx and Engels. Meanwhile, the paper also uses the ideology and concept of Frankfort School, Birmingham School and Postmodern Theory School on popular culture for reference. The Marxism of contemporary China on culture development and culture prosperity also provide ideological guidance and theoretical direction for the study of this thesis. These theories all help provide theoretical references for the discussion on countermeasures and influence of popular culture to the undergraduates’ideological and political education.Thirdly, this thesis analyzes from the perspective of the effect of popular culture to the undergraduates’ ideological and political education, the current condition of culture life of undergraduates and the dual influences of popular culture to the undergraduates’ ideological and political education. This thesis considers the popular culture makes positive effects to the undergraduates’ideological and political education on its content, form of expression, carrier and the subject-object relationship change. Meanwhile, it makes negative effects to the undergraduates’view of life, view of moral and values, which has provoked the undergraduates’ ideological and political educator’s deep thinking.Finally, in allusion to the effect of popular culture to the undergraduates, this thesis proposes countermeasures. These countermeasures includes:One, this paper proposes the principle of the undergraduates’ideological and political education under the influence of popular culture. Two, it suggests us fully use the peculiarity of popular culture for references, enrich the content of the ideological and political education, so as to improve the attractiveness and vitality of the ideological and political education. Three, in allusion to the negative effects of popular culture to the ideological and political education, it suggests us make use of the socialist core values to guide the development direction of popular culture, use popular culture to develop and expand the splendid Chinese traditional culture, construct and spread the advanced socialist culture, so as to provide the ideological and political education with a more healthy and abundant culture environment.In a word, this thesis use the viewpoint of Marxism on culture, makes objective analyzation to the effects of popular culture to the undergraduates’ideological and political education. This thesis proposes countermeasures to the negative effect of popular culture and suggests the thinking of establishing an advanced socialist culture. It will certainly further expand the research horizon of ideological and political education, innovate the research field of ideological and political education, provide beneficial reference for the development of culturology of ideological and political education. Meanwhile, this thesis will also be conducive to promote the education content innovation and teaching method improvement of the ideological and political education, so as to provide beneficial enlightenment for the enrichment and completion of the ideological and political education.
