Electron temperature gradient mode (ETG) is a kind of drift wave driven by elec-tron temperature gradient in plasma, and ETG driven turbulence which is associated with the anomalous transport in tokamak becomes a hot topic. In the past few decades, many authors have studied the mechanisms for anomalous electron heat transport, and it has been suggested that the electron temperature gradient driven mode and other modes, such as the trapped electron mode (TEM) and the current-diffusive ballooning mode, are reasonable for anomalous electron thermal flux. ETG mode occurs widely in space physics too. Studies on linear and nonlinear theory of ETG mode are helpful in under-standing the plasma movement, magnetic confinement fusion and the space physics. In this paper, we focus on ETG mode in plasma with impurity ions in following aspects:Firstly, the characteristics of electron temperature gradient mode has been intro-duced, and the development of theory and experiment is elaborated in the first chapter.Secondly, the fluid and kinetic model of ETG mode are deduced from the basic equations. The influence of the impurity and the other factors is investigated in the second and third chapter. We verify that impurities have a strong stabilizing effect on the ETG mode, and we discuss the influence of parameters ηe,εn etc.Thirdly, chapter4investigates the nonlinear coherent structure-dipole vortex, gets the analytic expression of dipole vortex. The3-D graphics of dipole vortex and the influence on vortex properties are studied numerically. We find that impurities can affect the amplitude of the vortex.Fourthly, we study the ETG mode in a plasma with vortex and shear flow, and the secondary excitation near the vortex core is investigated with the " Non modal method "...
