Objective:To our Knowledge, there is no clinical study with large samples regarding the association of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection and Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD), the aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between Hp infection and NAFLD in the Chinese population with large samples.Methods:9091patients who underwent health screening were included in this study. Physical examination for hight and weight were evaluated for calculating BMI. Laboratory assessments for SBP, DBP, BMI, TG, TC, LDL-C, HDL-C, VLDL-C, uric acid, FPG were taken, and hepatic ultrasonography was evaluated for diagnosing NAFLD.Results:Of the9091subjects,1874(20.6%) were diagnosed anti-Hp IgG seropositivity.2369subjects (26.1%) were diagnosed NAFLD. After divided into two groups according to the Hp IgG status, results showed that the mean age of anti-Hp IgG seropositivity group was older than the control group (44.1years vs42.4years, p=0.000), the male percentage of anti-Hp IgG seropositivity group was higher than the control group (53.1%vs47.0%, p=0.000), the anti-Hp IgG seropositivity group had higher SBP, DBP, BMI, TG, TC, LDL-C, VLDL-C, uric acid, FPG and a lower HDL-C levels. The NAFLD prevalence was significantly higher in anti-Hp IgG seropositivity group than the control group (30.2%vs25.0%).By using logistic regression analysis, we find that BMI, TC, VLDL-C, FPG and the NAFLD status have significant association with Hp status after an adjustment of age, gender, SBP and DBP in the model(p<0.05). We further devided the subjects into5groups according to different ranges of BMI, TC, VLDL-C and FPG respectively. While these risk factors of NAFLD is increasing, the prevalence of anti-H.pylori IgG seropositivity all showed an increasement in different groups after an adjustment of age, gender, SBP and DBP, we find that this relationship is significant only with VLDL-C and FPG(p-trend<0.05).Conclusions:Anti-Hp IgG seropositivity has a significant association with NAFLD and its risk factors, which suggest that Hp infection may have a contribution in the pathogenesis of NAFLD.
