| The Eastern Han Mural Tomb in Helinger of Inner Mongolia is a unique one among its kind.Its uniqueness is reflected in two aspects:the large number of murals and the completeness of its image.Among the three main tomb chambers,two ear chambers,one side chamber and six corridors there are 50 murals,225 inscriptions.The murals reflect the life picture of that time including clothes,houses,work,cities and country sides,faiths and stories.These large amounts of image information reflect from multi-perspective the social situation of this area during Eastern Han period.Tombs,a space environment with a special function,make the meaning and function of its interior image change.Thus it becomes the visualization of funeral ritual,culture and faith.As the designer and creator,how the artists choose the image based on its function and usage when facing such a large and complex funeral system and how the artists put the images in the contextualization of funeral and present a complete,interactive and independent image system.This is a question worth of thinking and exploring.This dissertation raises the question and discusses about it following this line of thinking.The mural images,the formation and the organization are the three aspects the this dissertation are going to discuss and explore.The design and painting process is the same as the creation process of artistic work.Its function decides its content and for.Under the influence of function there must be a design plan between the murals and the construction.This dissertation discusses from the following three aspects:the content of the murals,the distribution of the murals and the formation of the murals.It aims to analyze space and time--an important design feature of this tomb. |
