As a multi-ethnic country,Malaysia is still faced with the important task of Nation-state Building.Historical,in-depth analysis of the history of Malaysia Nation-state Building,both quite academic significance,can also study other countries' Nation-state Building for us to provide reference.This topic aims at analyzing the process of Nation-state Building from the administration of Tunku Abdul Rahma to Mahathir Mohamad,evaluating the Nation-state Building in different periods,analysing the constrains in Nation-state Building of Malaysian,and seeking the future path choice of Malaysia Nation-state Building.The topic is consist of introduction,main body and conclusion.The introduction mainly discusses the origin and meaning of the topic.Through domestic and overseas research summary on this issue,the author is trying to find the merits and defects of the topic,and analyze the research method.Finally,the author is going to illustrate the framework of the topic.basic concepts related to the topic.At the same time,the theoretical analysis framework is based on the combination of domestic and overseas research where the measures and theories are used to interpret the construction of state nation.In this way,gains and losses in the construction of Malaysian state nation could be valued.The main body is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is going to explain the foundation of Malaysian Nation-state before the Second World War.The chapter mainly analyzes the formation of Malay,Chinese and Indians are different from each other,and the impact of British colonial rule on future Malaysia Nation-state Building.Chapter 2 mainly introduces the Nation-state Building from the Malaya's striking for independence to the administration of Tunku Abdul Rahma.Independent sovereignty,territory shape and the establishment of institutional system is an important achievement of Nation-state Building,from the second world war to the "5.13 event".Here,due to the Malaysian government generally choose a path of "compromise assimilation",Malaysia's ethnic relations seem to be relatively stable,Nation-state Building smoothly.Chapter 3 mainly introduces the Nation-state Building of Malaysian from the 13 MayIncident to Mahathir 's announcement of New Economic Policy.The 13 May Incident that took place on May 13 1969,is an important turning point for the Nation-state Building of Malaysia.Malay's political elites' actions to strengthen Malay's advantages in politics,economy,culture and education are also the efforts to guarantee the Malay's cultural dominance and to weaken other ethnic groups' awareness in constructing the nation state.However,those efforts of Malay's elites were little effect.Chapter 4 is about the Nation-state Building process in the period of "small-scale opening up policy" under the government of Mahathir's administration.The implementation of the policy of "open" and "small open" situation,since the 1990s mahathir adjust the product of Nation-state Building path.Mahathir declared the end of the New Economic Policy and put forward the "Vision of 2020" have important significance to keep the relationship of the stability of the dominant ethnic group and other groups.However,until Mahathir stepped down or even now,Malaysian ethnic group's integration and nation state construction haven't made any real progress.The conclusion part summarizes the whole paper based on the discussion above,analyzing the overall situation of Malaysia Nation-state Building and explaining the factors that restrict the construction of the nation state,especially the factors that confine the further advancing.and put forward our thinking of the Malaysia Nation-state Building path in the future.
