Semantic Study On Russian Abstract Nouns

As a very mysterious,complex and important lexical semantic unit,which reflects human being’s cognitive,intellectual,spiritual,mental and emotional world on subjective level,Russian abstract nouns express and describe the intangible concept of state,emotion,quality,characteristic and action of the objective real world.As important parameters and language means,these nouns also play a significant role in constructing parallel human subjective spiritual world.By semantic interactions of nouns and predicates,Russian abstract nouns are regarded as transitional semantic units that reflect real situations in the objective world,containing the dual semantic connotations of verbs and static words,and combining the semantic features and characteristics of verbs,adjectives and nouns.At present,the semantic problems related to them have not been studied deeply and systematically,this provides semantic research on Russian abstract nouns important theoretical significance and value.This study focuses on the semantic issues of Russian abstract nouns.On the one hand,from the macroscopic view,this thesis will take semantic connotation and characteristics of Russian abstract nouns into whole consideration,lay stress on analyzing and discussing their semantic features and functions,quantity and type of their semantic valence and phenomenon of nominalization.On the other hand,from the microscopic view,this study will classify static abstract nouns into different semantic sub-categories,discuss semantic and syntactic modes of them,through further description of syntactic behavior,this study will verify semantic performance and characteristics of subcategories of abstract nouns,deepen semantic study of abstract nouns.Meanwhile combining cognitive semantic theory,analyze and clarify semantic features of sub-categories of gerunds,metaphorical and metonymic semantic derivation of gerund and its basic modes of derivation.The analysis and research of related issues contribute to establish and complete systematic analysis system of Russian nouns,deepen semantic study of Russian abstract nouns,reveal semantic essence of Russian abstract nouns,provide theoretical reference for semantic analysis of nouns.Innovation of this study lies in its view and method.First of all,the study combines semantic theory,valence theory,categorization,metaphor,metonymy and other cognitive linguistics theories;it’s not constrained by semantic analysis of only one subcategory of abstract nouns,but systematically constructs integrated semantic analysis system of Russian abstract nouns from multidimensional viewpoints.Secondly,this study chooses 1000 high frequency Russian abstract nouns as the research object,examines the relevant examples from the Russian national corpus and finds out the relevant linguistic facts to verify the arguments put forward in this study.
