| Controversies over Literary Classics have attracted wide attention since 1980s.So far,studies on Literary Classics are still a huge capacity of discourse.Is Literary Classics a pseudo problem caused by Western cultural studies or the inevitable outcome with the development of Chinese literature research?Would Literary Classics still have applicability?Do the adaptations of literary classics,such as parody,mean the end or the new fortune to literary classics?Has the domestic theoretical construction on literary classics completed?Where will the study go?These problems are both the anxiety starting points and the purport of this research.The controversies over Literary Classics have directly related to the media cultural context since 1980.The media culture with the main factors of media institutions,media systems and communication technology have always been the specific context of literary classics.And it is also the important factor that must be considered in Literary Classics research.This paper mainly discusses the Literary Classics controversies in three stage:1980’s,1990’s and since 2000 in the change of media culture;analyses the occurrence,the development,the methods,the forms,the main problems and the perspectives in the three period;three-dimensionally displays the cultural context and the overall situations of the domestic Literary Classics controversies in nearly forty years and provides the systematic analysis of the theoretical gain and loss about the domestic literary classics study.At the same time,the paper also discusses the value of literary classics in literature study,literary criticism and the cultural construction.The first chapter:the origin of theory in Western and Chinese literary classics study.This chapter firstly discusses the etymology of "Cannon".Then the western classical literature research is divided into five stages according to the time order.and this is an important reference to the domestic literary classics thoughts.The paper discusses the crisis of Chinese literary classics since twentieth Century in the end of the chapter,and debates media culture as the new factor in literary classics study since the 1980’s.These provide the complete history for the follow-up study.The second chapter mainly discusses the enlightenment literary classic debate in 1980s.In this period,publishing and other activities determined the elite and enlightening characteristics of media culture which influenced the literary classic debate a lot.The literature publication participated in the construction of Chinese modern classical literature with the main forms of the historical study,the re-evaluation of works and the rewriting of literature history.Writing and dissemination of the contemporary literature,the translation of western literature and theory works,and the growing popular culture were all involved in the construction of Chinese modern classical literature and were the challenge to classical construction.In contrast with the interaction of government/Folk/elite,ancient/modern/contemporary,Chinese/Western and other groups of strength,the controversies over literary classics in 1980’s preliminary reconstructed the literature classic landmarks which provided the inheritance and subversion of the traditional to the contemporary literature and culture.The third chapter mainly discusses the 1990’s literary classics controversies in the context of media culture popularization.On one hand,the study of literary classics in 1990’s perfected the construction of literary classics institute.At the same time,classic establishment provided a classic sequence for effective national imagination and cultural value construction.However,the visual culture,consumer culture and mass culture prosperous challenged and questioned the position of literary classics.Factors that affected and restricted the construction of classical literature were more and more complicated.All these factors dispelled the efforts of the construction in a certain extent.The fourth chapter is about the reconstruction of literary classics theory in media society.After 2000,with the development of the media technology,the social culture became mediatization and globalization.and the media culture played a more and more important role in social life.In this period,the literary classics debate focused to the contemporary literature,and in the promotion of the mass media,the discussion of literary classics were changed into "literary events".At the same time,the summary and constructive classical literature research unfolded in some time opportunity such as the 60 years of contemporary literature and Mo Yan winning the Nobel literature award.On the other hand,based on the long time discussing,researchers began to construct the native literature classic theory,literary classics as a literary and cultural value system regained the theory activity.The conclusion part summarizes the value and meaning of literary classics debate since the 1980’s,it also emphasizes the literary classic modern theoretical construction of localization is a key to understand and solve the debate of literary classics.At the same time,in the context of globalization process and the media oriented society,the establishment and construction of literary classics is an important content of the construction of national culture and cultural identity.Literary classics that fade empowerment obtain new existence value and cultural significance. |
