This study of Yun Dong Ju-who lived under Japanese colonial era-reveals the outlines of the whole body of his poetry and the unique fundamental characteristics in his literature and shows his purpose to be that of trying to preserve his minority language by writing his poetry.Previous studies of Yun Dong Ju's poems used printed and published materials as main text and had different sometimes distorted elements than the original text.Realizing urgently the need to study of the original text to approach Yun Dong Ju poetry, this writer had a sense of urgency feeling it important to use Yun Dong Ju's hand written original manuscripts as the main text to reinterpret his poems. For this reason, this study uses the collection of photos of the manuscript of his hand-written poems as its basic text to see the poet's life, his literary works, the circumstances of his surroundings.and used historical critiques. Not only using this special edition of his poems, this thesis also uses his notes and the testimonies of his acquaintances, traces the inheritance of his writings which he left for future readers, and proceeds to combine readers' criticisms, nonliterary and internal methods of research.Yun Dong Ju was born under shameful colonial and as an act of rebellion he used Korean language like a pure cosmos flowers to expressed his innocent mind, nostalgia and humor, and he reflected on his internal emotions and sang out the ethnic anguish and the hope for a better future that his people had. Most of his poems are annotated with the date of writing and so it is possible to reflections on the historical background of those poems.Yun Dong Ju started to write his poems on December 24,1934.His early poems are still ideological but many of the ones he wrote when in Soong Sil Middle School are just simple children's songs and poems. Some of his poems which he wrote in those days describe his hometown scenery,or just express his wit and are designed to make the reader laugh. He had a difficult time with shrine worship, was perplexed when he saw children use a foreign language(Japanese)when they played, and felt sad.so he wrote more children's songs and poems which expressed these feelings.Looking at Yun Dong Ju's poems with the Korean Diaspora in view,it can be seen that he expressed in the vessel of his poetry the sorrow of a nationless people, his unstoppable love for his people, his sad feelings of loss of his hometown, his homesickness and his minority people's psychological conflicts and agony. He realized his identity as a member of the diaspora, chose to be a writer in this crooked space of history, and expressed his own empathy with his sad people's life in a sick society.Generally Yun Dong Ju's literature mixes national and Christian consciousness to make his own resistance literature. He responded to Japanese violence by writing lyrical Korean writings. He felt one with his people who lived under colonial rule and harmonized his literature with his life experience. He read books from all ages, watched carefully things that were happening in society, pondered deeply and wrote poems in Korean except a few poems. However,he didn't get swept away in the current of a movement;instead he read many writers' writings and analyzed them and worked hard to write his own creative poems. While he was studying in Japan-which was a cruel situation-he recorded daily life in his own ethnic language. And he finally moved from hiding in the sad shadows of his heart to be reconciled with himself. Also he did pour out nationalistic poems which have the hope of national liberation and try to move congested things along.Generally this thesis paper has the purpose of a general approach to Yun Dong Ju's whole corpus of literary works, researching the collection of photos of Yun Dong Ju's hand-written edition of poems to take a comprehensive approach to his overall work and study his unique poetry that over time went through a process of change, especially examining the theme of resistance in this dangerous time in the nation's existence. He hoped to give comforts to those have broken hearts through his poems and waited for the day of liberation even if that meant he might have to die.Yun Dong Ju's poems give expression of resistance to all enemies of the open and free heart, not only to comfort people under that particular colonial rule but also to comfort the hearts of people who are living exhausted in the modern days of today's world.
