| The structural relationship of "modal verb + VP" is difficult to distinguish and has been controversial.There are two main reasons for this: One is that the meaning of modal verbs is also shi and xv,and some are more realistic and close to verbs;more meaningful and close to adverbs.Second,the distribution position is single,and the prominent distribution position of the modal verb is before VP.This position is the common position of adverbials,predicates,and predicates in the conjunction structure.From this distribution position,it is difficult to distinguish its relationship with VP.Chinese does not have morphological changes in the strict sense.Judgment of syntactic functions depends on meaning and distribution.The polysemy of meaning and the singleness of significant distribution of the "modal verb" make the basis of judgment lose the ability to judge.Therefore,to solve the structural relationship problem of "modal verb + VP",we must solve these two problems in a targeted manner.In terms of meaning,the classification of modal verbs should be combined with modal types.Cross-language research shows that there is a certain relationship between modal and syntactic functions.Classification based on modal is helpful to correspond internal subclasses with syntactic functions,so as to clearly distinguish Its structural relationship with VP.In terms of distribution,in addition to the significant distribution characteristics,the discovery and arrangement of other distribution characteristics is very important,and the final determination of the structural relationship must be based on formal evidence.From the perspective of classification,according to Palmer(2001),Peng Lizhen(2007)and others,Chinese modal verbs are classified into dynamic modal,deontic modal,and epistemic modal.Based on reasonable classification,the next step is to find formal evidence.Based on the formal features and supplemented with other pragmatic semantic means,the structural relationship of "modal verb + VP" can be accurately determined.Judgment must be based on the whole as well as on a case-by-case basis to prove the laws of holism and explain the cases with holistic rules.Chapter 1 of the dissertation first analyzes the criteria for identifying the predicateobject structure and adverbial-verb structure,and attempts to use the relevant criteria to identify the structural relationship of"modal verb+VP"in order to understand the basic situation of the problem.Chapters 2 to 5 focus on the study of dynamic/deontic modal verbs,and strive to deepen their understanding of these modal verbs.Chapter 2combines the syntactic and semantic characteristics of"?(Ken)VP",and focuses on the core position of the predicate of the dynamic modal verb,and its dominance and control over VP.Chapter 3 discusses the influence of factors such as constructiveness on the structural relationship of"modal verb+VP"through the changes of the"?(gan)VP"syntax function in special contexts.Chapter 4 uses"??(ke yi)VP"to express the syntactic and semantic situation of different modalities.It studies the development and changes of syntactic functions after the modal verbs develop from dynamic modal to deontic modal.Chapter 5 focuses on"?(yao)VP"and discusses the individualization of the syntactic features of"modal verb VP"on the basis of universality.Chapter 6 summarizes the syntactic performance of the dynamic/deontic modal verb VP based on the previous discussion,focusing on the differences in the syntactic functions of modal verbs when expressing two different modalities.On the basis of detailed research on dynamic / deontic modal verbs,the other chapters of the paper focus on the changes in the syntactic and semantic characteristics of "modal verb + VP" after the development of dynamic / deontic modals into epistemic modalities,And use these expressions to identify and understand the structural relationship of "modal verb + VP".Chapter 7 first analyzes the differences within the epistemic modality,and attempts to explain the special syntactic and semantic expressions of some modal verbs.After that,I focused modality,and compares it with the characteristics when it expresses deontic,and discusses the differences and oppositions of syntactic functions in different modality.Chapter 9 analyzes the particularity of the syntax expression of"?(dei)VP",and uses this as a breakthrough to analyze the influence of dialect factors on the structural relationship of"modal verb+VP".In Chapter 10,"?(neng)VP"is used to indicate the change of syntactic and semantic characteristics in different modalities.The dominant control relationship between modal verbs and VP is studied,and the special expression of topicalization of VP sentences is discussed in detail.Chapter 11focuses on the more controversial"?(hui)VP"research,focuses on the special and exceptional cases of"epistemic modal
