Research On The Historical Changes Of Border Areas In Inner Mongolia

The historical changes of the border areas in Inner Mongolia which played different historical roles,has changed the status of China’s inland border in the world pattern.Carrying an important mission in the China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor and connecting the world,the border areas in Inner Mongolia are the vital part of the“The Belt and Road”,which used to be the northern protection area,the Anti-Japanese War frontier and the modern state boundaries.Taking ethnology as a perspective,basing on history,combing with sociology and studies of international relations,the thesis chooses Urad area as the main object of investigation to reflect the entire border history and makes a comprehensive analysis the border area in Inner Mongolia from margin to center,border to boundary,and the absence of national boundaries to the finalization of boundaries during the various periods in the border history.The transition history is not limited to a“Macro-history”of politics,but also the“Micro-history”of various frontier groups.The research significance of the thesis is to show more comprehensive frontier life.Historical changes of Urad area which reflects the enhanced awareness of national boundaries and a new win-win cooperation with other countries under international treaties,is a epitome of the history of the northern frontier of modern China.It is the most realistic reflection of Chinese effort to build an interconnected community of shard future,especially after the experience of China’s civilization revival century from the early 20^th to the early21^st,a transformation period from a weak country to a strong one.The thesis is composed of introduction,main body and conclusion.The thesis mainly introduces the background of dissertation,research significance,definition of relevant research concepts,research status review,the basic historical data and research method in the introduction part.Inner Mongolia which faced the crises and challenges of declaring independence of Outer Mongolia,Sino-Soviet relations,and out-bursting of anti-Japanese War,has taken different positions and played a historical role in the period of the Republic of China.In the early days of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China,the frontier area of Inner Mongolia changed from the traditional frontier to the modern border area and experienced a seemingly harmonious transition with the incident of people and animal crossing the border and the immigrants who flew to the border in the“honeymoon phase”under the alliance camp of Sino-Mongolia relations.The contradictions between China and Mongolia deepened under the influence of the deterioration of Sino-Soviet relation,the frontier of Inner Mongolia became one of the main combat zone.The two factors virtually facilitated the determination of boundary and further promoted the formation of modern border system.With the variation of the world pattern,China and Mongolia have started the era of comprehensive opening up,and both sides have set up ports to conduct foreign trade.Inner Mongolia frontier has become the economic cooperation area under the global vision,and the main platform for different political entities and social culture exchanges.Since the beginning of the 21^st century,China and Mongolia have established strategic partnership which contributed to a new pattern of Inner Mongolia.The port trade drove the local economic development and promoted the formation of frontier town at the same time which has become the major field for trans-boundary groups.In the conclusion,the thesis points out that the further implement,consolidation and enlargement of“The Belt and Road”,mutual and beneficial cooperation between China and other countries will become a new point of economic growth and open the fresh prospect for the regional collaboration in the world.As the main channel connecting China and the world,Inner Mongolia border areas play the role of bridgehead,bring new opportunities for the Sino-Mongolia development,and are a major window for China moving towards the world.
