Research On Huang Ruo’s Three Orchestral Works

Huang Ruo is one of the most active and representative young and middle-aged composers in the new generation of Chinese American composers.The purpose of this thesis is to analyze and study the characteristics of his orchestral works,and take his three most representative works-<Leaving Sao><Folk Songs for Orchestra><Becoming Another> as the research object.The three works composed in 14 years(from 2001 to 2015).This thesis attempts to make an in-depth study from its creative characteristics-"Music color design and layout guided by linear composing".This paper is divided into four chapters: introduction and main text.The introduction and the first chapter respectively introduce the composer Huang ruo’s relevant information,research ideas and his composing ideas.The following three chapters will refine the creative characteristics in composing of each work one by one and make an in-depth analysis based on this point,including pitch organization,motivation,texture,orchestration,special performance technique and so on.Through the analysis and induction,finalizing the composer’s music color layout and design under the guidance of linear composing in the creation of orchestral works.
