The Gender Construction In Female Reporters' Occupation Career

Occupation is the important social connotation of female gender,which is decided by the occupation's prominent status and role in social life.In many women's occupation,the particularity of media is extremely obvious:On the one hand,the media provides practice opportunities for the educated women to achieve the economic independence and independent personality.On the other hand,the media has a huge impact on encouraging new ideas.Another aspect is that the news industry is still a male world in the traditional sense.How the gender female is to be constructed in the occupation career development,it is the topic that media females and occupation females in the society dominated by the male are very concerned about.In this paper,from the perspective of social gender theory,using the Joan-Scott 's gender's analytical framework,gender as the construction of social culture about gender differences is analysed through the four levels including cultural symbols,normative concepts,social organizations and institutions,and the subject identity to study that the gender of female reporters is how to be constructed in their occupation career,and how the female reporters change the gender ecology of ccupation in turn.The research object "the female reporters" is selected as the female practitioners doing the news interview work in media,including the producers,departments and the channel managers who did interview work before.As the representative of the Jiangsu TV,JSBC and NBS are in the leading position in the country,this study demonstrates representative significance focusing on female reporters on such two TV platform.This paper consists of five parts which include the introduction,theory and literature,study design,text,analysis and discussion.The core part of the body expands around the female reports'gender construction and countermeasure to analyse the role expectation of occupation entering,gender temperament construction in occupation journey,gender role construction in occupation development.At the same time,discuss the female reporters' gender countermeasure on occupation gender ecology and self gender identity.Gender countermeasure is mainly relative to the construction of gender,refers to that female reporters change and have impact on occupation gender ecology by using their own occupational performance and gender characteristics.First,analysis the different role expectations of occupation entering.And then discuss the gender temperament construction in occupation journey.Analyse the occupation behavior in occupation journey,discuss television interview and television appearance's shaping on the female reporters' gender temperament,discipline of the different gender role in the interview's "forestage" and "backstage" on female reporters' gender temperament.When the femininity of the television interview and television appearance suits the traditional gender norms perfectly,the female reporter's gender role and professional role gain dual accreditation and validation,they will choose to extend female temperament naturally,and to be better women combining with the modernity of occupation.When the masculinity of the television interview and television appearance conflicts with the gender identity of female reporters,it will lead to the tension between the so-called "professional" and "women defined by the mainstream culture" in the construction of gender,the female reporters will choose to adapt or challenge the tension,thereby bring femininity fuzzy or prominent.The television interview and television appearance also modle the female reporters'modern gender temperament.The television interview can be regarded as the workplace's" forestage",workplace communication belongs to the workplace's"backstage".Integrating the female reporters's performance and role in the forestage and backstage,although the female gender identity achieves gender advantages in men,the female reporters also become the object cared and consumed by males.Gender role construction in the occupation development is to analyse the gender construction of the female reporters from the occupation planning and personal occupation development.The occupation career's discontinuity is brought by marriages and babies to female reporters occupation,the gender role of "working mother" is like to admonish the female reporters.Deputy position in personal promotion also makes them in a dilemma between "being eager for success" and"being worry for success".However,the female reporters in the construction,also play their own initiative to counter at the same time.They use occupational performance and gender characteristics in television interviews and team management to change gender stereotypes about females,and also bring changes to the occupation gender ecology.In the analysis and discussion part,explain the female reporters' status of gender concept and gender identity,analyse the gender characteristics of the female reporters,and extend to the prospect of construction of friendly occupation culture to females through the female gender's enlightenment significance in the news field for China females' occupation development in society.
