This dissertation investigated the association of wellness variables and satisfaction variables among nursing assistants who provide care for Alzheimer's disease and dementia patients. The 53 participants comprised a convenience sample who were recruited from nine nursing homes. The volunteer participants were administered the Five Factor Wellness Inventory (Myers, J. E. & Sweeney, T.J., 2004, Journal of Individual Psychology, 60, 234-244) and the Positive Aspects of Caregiving measure (Tarlow B.J., Wisniewski, S.R., Belle, S.R., Rubert, M., Ory, M.G., & Gallagher-Thompson, D., 2004, Research on Aging, 26, 429-453). The Pearson product-moment correlation and the Spearman rank order correlation were selected to test for associations between the main variables. Multiple regression was used to test associations among sub-variables and the main variables. The Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal-Wallis test were used to determine if any difference existed among demographic groups. The findings suggested that there was not a significant relationship among wellness variables and caregiver satisfaction variables relating to nursing assistants.
