Succession planning is an important part of transmitting the wisdom of senior executives and business owners to those intended to take their place in running the business. Although some larger corporations do spend time and capital to invest in leadership development, oftentimes smaller and newer businesses do not. With the baby boomers nearing retirement age, the business culture in general stands to loose a vast amount of learned wisdom from that sector of the human capital gene pool. No less an important consideration is the legacy of successful entrepreneurial women. This study, then, is designed to explore how successful female entrepreneurs of the baby boomer generation communicate their legacy to new generations of women who may be interested in a similar path.
