Asymmetric metal-catalyzed nitroso hetero-Diels-Alder and O-nitrosocarbonyl aldol reactions

This dissertation describes asymmetric metal-catalyzed reactions of nitroso compounds. Chapter 1 gives an overview of asymmetric metal catalysis. Chapter 2 generally introduces nitroso compounds and their reactivity. Chapter 3 describes the aluminum-catalyzed nitroso hetero-Diels-Alder reaction of P-nitrosophosphine oxides. Chapter 4 details the copper-catalyzed O-nitrosocarbonyl aldol reaction of β-ketothioesters.
