| This study investigated ADHD diagnosed adults currently receiving ADHD focused psychological therapy. ADHD and psychological symptoms were assessed using self-report measures (Brief Symptom Inventory & Conners' Adult ADHD Rating Scale Self-Report: Long Version). All scales were used with the exception of the ADHD-Index (CAARS-S: L). ADHD and psychological symptoms often co-occur, however the majority of research is concentrated on pediatric populations. Further clarification is needed regarding clinical presentations in adults. It was hypothesized positive correlations would exist for all reported ADHD and the psychological symptoms of Somatization, Depression, and Interpersonal Sensitivity. Further, positive correlations would exist with the ADHD Symptoms Total (CAARS-S: L) with the Global Severity Index (BSI). Additionally, those reporting higher symptom severity on the DSM-IV Hyperactive-Impulsive Symptoms Index (CAARS-S: L) would report greater symptom severity for Interpersonal-Sensitivity, Depression, Somatization, and Global Severity than for those who report greater symptom severity the DSM-IV Inattentive Symptoms Index (CAARS-S: L). |
