The goal of this dissertation is to provide a means of estimating the frequency of a signal by analyzing the wavelet coefficients of the signal. We employ Battle-Lemarie wavelets and continued fractions. Phenomena such as the intersection of strands of coefficients are defined and investigated. The vanishing moment properties of Battle-Lemarie wavelets are used to investigate signals with periodic derivatives.
