This research evaluated the biotic and abiotic transformation processes affecting various nitroaromatic pesticides (including trifluralin, botran, PCNB, dinoseb, DNOC, and DNP) under sulfate-reducing conditions (SRC) using a batch experimental approach. The biotic experiments were conducted in mineral media inoculated with a soil bacterial consortium enriched under SRC. Individual pesticides were examined when either benzoate, lactate, or acetate served as a primary substrate. The abiotic experiments were conducted in uninoculated mineral media with varying (H;Effects of environmental conditions on both biotic and abiotic transformation rates of dinitrophenolic pesticides were examined. Abiotic dinoseb transformation rates were influenced by (1) (H;Significant removals of the nitroaromatic pesticides under SRC suggests that in situ remediation can be employed under such conditions. The experimental results can be used to establish proper methods for manipulating environmental conditions for the enhancement of anaerobic transformation rates. Separation of biotic and abiotic transformation components can help predict the fate of nitroaromatic pesticides more accurately under SRC. The LFER between LUMO energy and log k...
