Abstract/Summary:
A Mixed Implicit/Explicit (MEI) finite element solution algorithm has been used for the study of compressibility effects on shock wave turbulent boundary layer interactions. The algorithm is based on a general family of Taylor-Galerkin finite element methods which have a second order accuracy both in temporal and spatial domains. The present method is applicable to transient and steady solutions of Navier-Stokes system of equations. This formulation utilizes four implicitness parameters as calculated from the flowfield variables in terms of Mach numbers and Reynolds numbers. The present methodology that solves the fully coupled Navier-Stokes system of equations with a two equation k-...
